Wimbledon set to receive $141 million via Pandemic Insurance Policy

As we all know that due to Corona virus outbreak all the sports activity have come to standstill. Wimbledon is one of cancelled for the first time since second world war. All federations, organisers and global bodies have lost huge amount because of it.

The AELTC (All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club) is all set to receive $141 million from a Pandemic Insurance policy. As during the time of the SARS outbreak in 2003, the AELTC has taken a Pandemic insurance policy and had been paying $2 million each year.

Due to the cancellation of the event Wimbledon is going through great losses of €250 million so this insurance policy will help them to pay up the maintenance for grass, permanent staffing of others.

Wimbledon was scheduled from 29 June to 12 July but has become one of the sporting events which has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first time after World war 2 that the prestigious grass court tournament has been cancelled.
