India’s one of the best openers in limited over cricket, Rohit Sharma has said that he’s hungry for 50 over World Cup trophy.
Rohit was a part of the inaugral T20 World Cup and he experienced the thrill when India lift the first edition of T20 World Cup which is held in 2007 in South Africa. But he missed out being a part of 2011 50 over World Cup. Sharma didn’t experienced that delight from 13 years and is keen to set that right.
“Winning the World Cup is a dream of all us, together,” Sharma was quoted as saying to India Today.
“I want to win World Cups. Of course, every time you go out there, you want to win every game. But the World Cup is something that you know is the pinnacle of everything. I want to win World Cups.” he added.
In the 2019 World Cup, Sharma was in the best of forms as he smashed a 648 run which includes 5 centuries and he is the highest run-getter in the 2019 World Cup. But he unluckily failed to score runs in the semifinal against New Zealand.
The biggest challenge for Indian Batsmen is to score runs on foreign grounds, particularly in conditions like Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand. However, revealing his plans for the upcoming Australian tour, Sharma said, “I was quite looking forward to playing in the challenging conditions in New Zealand but unfortunately the injury happened at the wrong time,” he said.
“I can’t wait to go in Australia and test myself. Australia, in their own backyard and with those two guys, it will be a different ball game, I know that, As a team, we are also playing our best cricket right now… If it happens, it’ll be a great series to be part of,” he added.
