Arantxa Rus vs Irina Bara: Preview
It has been a terrible start of the new season for World No. 84 Arantxa Rus. The Dutchwoman has played in eight main draw matches this season and won just two of them – first round victories at the Lyon Open and Miami Open.
Clay has been Rus’ forte too. While she has done well on hard courts, Rus had made it to the second round of the Italian Open last year as a qualifier and also reached that stage in Prague.
Her opponent, Irina Bara is ranked 115th in the world had made a strong finish to the previous season when, a qualifier at the French Open, she defeated Donna Vekic in the first round of the tournament en route her third round appearance there.
Unfortunately for her, Bara hasn’t quite made the kind of start she would have liked to this season. She is yet to Win a main draw match in 2021.
Arantxa Rus vs Irina Bara: Head-to-Head
This will be the first meeting between the duo. The two players haven’t met before and hence the H2H stands at 0-0.
Arantxa Rus vs Irina Bara: Prediction
Given on her superior ranking, Rus starts as a favorite but one can’t expect her to run away with the match. Both players play best on Clay and hence it could be anybody’s game.
Rus will want to take large strides given a significantly weak playing field at Bogota. And hence expect her to cruise through in a tight match.
Prediction: Rus to win in three sets.
