Coco Gauff vs Ludmilla Samsonova: Preview
Gauff had carried some decent form into the Charleston Open 2021. She had reached the Semi-finals of the Adelaide International, and then backed it up with a Quarter-final showing at Dubai. Her first round opponent was US Open Quarter-finalist Tsvetana Pironkova.
The match against Pironkova was supposed to be a close game, but it ended in just 72 mins with Gauff winning in straight sets 6-3 6-0. Her second round opponent is Russian Ludmilla Samsonova.
Samsonova has not yet accomplished much on the ladies tour. She did qualify for the Miami Open and managed to reach the round of thirty-two of the event. In the first round here, she beat Japanese player Nao Hibino in straight sets 6-2 6-1.
Coco Gauff vs Ludmilla Samsonova: Head-to-Head
They have met once before at the tour, in the Linz Open qualifiers in 2019. A match won by Gauff in three sets. So the head to head stands at 1-0.
Coco Gauff vs Ludmilla Samsonova: Prediction
Gauff is only seventeen but is already a name of repute on the ladies tour. She served well against Pironkova in the first round, and converted 75% of her first serves. Not only that, Gauff never let her opponent settle and constantly attacked her serve.
Samsonova won easily in her first round match, but in the second round she will face someone much stronger. A real test of ability and character for Samsonova.
Match Prediction: Coco Gauff will beat Ludmilla Samsonova in straight sets.
