Swiatek is one of the rising stars of the Ladies game. The current French Open Champion, Swiatek has impressed one and all in the last few months. After a fourth round exit from the Australian Open, she bounced back to claim the Adelaide International Trophy. She beat Belinda Bencic 6-2 6-2 in the Final of that tournament.

Swiatek had a first round bye in the second round of the Miami Open. In the second round she beat Barbora Krejčíková 6-4 6-2. Her third round opponent is Ana Konjuh. Konjuh was once ranked as high as no.30 in the world. But four elbow surgeries and three years on the sidelines later the still twenty three year old Konjuh is finally putting together a string of appearances.

The wild card entry at Miami beat Kateřina Siniaková 7-6 7-5 in the first round before getting the better of eighteenth seed Madison Keys 6-4 6-2 in the second.
