Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston set for a rematch on WWE Raw

Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston faced each other in a long brutal match on last week’s WWE Raw. The winner would’ve earned a WWE Championship match against Bobby Lashley at the Hell in a Cell PPV. After battling for nearly half an hour, the match ended in a No Contest as MVP and Lashley interfered in the match.

WWE official Adam Pearce decided that there will be a rematch between McIntyre and Kingston, on the upcoming episode of WWE Raw. But this time, if Lashley or MVP interfere in the match, they will be suspended from WWE for 90 days, without pay.

This condition from Pearce will ensure that we will be getting another hard-hitting match, with a result. But McIntyre still has to be cautious as the numbers are stacked against him. Xavier Woods will be standing by Kofi Kingston and if need arises, he could help his New Day partner to earn a shot at the title.

McIntyre and Kingston are in line for the WWE Championship shot

For over an year now, Drew McIntyre has been in the WWE Championship scene. His stint with the Championship began way back at Wrestlemania 36, where he defeated Brock Lesnar to win the title. Since then, he lost the title to Randy Orton at WWE’s Hell in a Cell, allowing him to become a 14-time World Champion.

But McIntyre managed to win back his title within a few weeks. But he lost the title again at WWE Elimination Chamber, when The Miz successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, and won the title, with some help from Bobby Lashley. Soon Lashley became the WWE Champion, and McIntyre has been after him, ever since.

Lashley has successfully defended his title against McIntyre on two occasions – at Wrestlemania and Wrestlemania Backlash. If McIntyre wins against Kofi and loses to Lashley at HIAC, it could nudge him out of the Championship picture for some time.

Kofi Kingston, on the other hand, is coming after the WWE title for the first time since losing the title to Brock Lesnar at Smackdown premiere on FOX. If Kingston earns a match against Lashley at HIAC, he could use the hellish structure to his advantage and overpower Lashley with his high-flying abilities. But that is possible when Kingston overcomes McIntyre on the upcoming episode of WWE Raw.
