“He’s good at it,” Top-level WWE executive lauds CM Punk for being a great Sports Entertainer

Road Dogg seems like an avid follower of CM Punk's widely known traits as an intriguing character. As a result, the WWE Hall of Famer lauded the former WWE Champion for being so.

CM Punk has always been a topic to chatter about. For the kind of work he’s done over the years, his legacy speaks for itself. At present, he’s remotely signed with All Elite Wrestling, recovering from an injury. Outside of AEW, there’s only one place at which he’s amassed a substantial fanbase. By the time he left WWE, there were some serious grudges between both parties.

To this date, Punk despises WWE for what they allegedly did to him in the past. However, that’s not enough to prevent Road Dogg from commending Punk for his flawless attributes as a sports entertainer. Speaking on the latest episode of his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, the Senior Vice President of Live Events for WWE lauded Punk for always staying true to his own version.

“I think Punk’s a great example of a guy that if you just went with wrestler, wrestler, wrestler, wouldn’t have made it without the attitude, mic skills and I don’t want to say character because Punk was never really a character, he was just himself, but he’s good at it,” James said. “He made people tune in and get behind it. I don’t have to like you, take you out for dinner [to work with you].”

The Chicago native has always excelled at trash-talking on the microphone. Not many can match the verbiage he can deliver during his promos. As a matter of fact, in his feud with MJF, which is widely regarded as Punk’s best one yet, he actually trapped Maxwell in the wordplay. In an intense rivalry which majorly involved real-life scenarios, CM Punk schooled someone like The Devil, for the most part.

CM Punk’s wrestling future with AEW seems uncertain

Everyone is well-versed with what happened during the All Out media scrum back in September. After winning the AEW World Championship for the second in his career, Punk went on an unhinged rant over certain superstars, including Colt Cabana and The Elite. Tons of hearsay followed that controversial press conference.

Also, a legit locker room fight broke out between Punk and The Elite. Owing to whatever happened, the latter trio returned to television, leaving Punk out. Of course, Phil has a knee to take care of. However, things deteriorated to the point where there were serious discussions about purchasing CM Punk’s AEW contract.

However, as of late, those have fizzled out. In fact, that’s not happening anymore. At the same time, Punk is struggling to remain calm. After all, he’s been kept on edge by AEW officials about their working future. For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem like Tony Khan will release someone of CM Punk’s stature.
