Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is undoubtedly one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He’s the torchbearer of the legendary Samoan Dynasty whose legacy runs through decades involving the incredible contributions by WWE Hall of Famers Afa and Sika, Rikishi, Yokozuna and the current frontrunner who’s carrying the family’s long-stored dominance in this industry to the next level is the Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Rock catapulted to the heights of success during the Attitude Era in WWE when he feuded with The Texas Rattlesnake ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. They are said to have arguably the greatest trilogy in WWE history with Steve Austin winning that by 2 matches to 1 against The Brahma Bull. Austin was victorious in this rivalry at Wrestlemanias 15 and 17 while Rock emerged as the winner at Wrestlemania 19. This would have marked Stone Cold’s last match in WWE until he came out of retirement to wrestle his next match this year at Wrestlemania against Kevin Owens.
Another prominent face during that era was Road Dogg of the New Age Outlaws. He also was the World Tag Team Champion alongside Billy Gunn.
Recently while an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Roady revealed that he was jealous of the Great One in WWE because of his vast capabilities so he thought that Rock was a legit threat to his success moving forward.
” Rock didn’t try to help me, but I was mean to him because I was jealous of him and he was a threat to me, because he could do everything that I could do, but he looked friggin great too. It was, like, son of a bee sting, you’ve got everything. And at that time it bothered me, because he was a threat to me, so I treated him horribly in front of everybody all of the time.”
The Rock is an icon of this industry
Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock debuted at Survivor Series 1996 and he recently completed his 25 years with the company at Last year’s annual event. He’s a 10-time World Champion , 2-time Intercontinental Champion, 5-time Tag Team Champion and the 2000 Royal Rumble match winner. He’s widely regarded as the best trash-talker in WWE history who can literally murder anyone when it comes to having a face to face promo battle.
Rock was most recently seen celebrating WWE Smackdown’s Fox network premiere back in October 2019 where he appeared in an opening segment alongside Becky Lynch and King Corbin. He delivered a people’s elbow and The Rock Bottom on the humble king to close out the thing. He’s rumoured to face Roman Reigns next year at Wrestlemania in Los Angeles which will serve as the ultimate box-office attraction for the marquee event.
