Roman Reigns is currently on the run of his life breaking records left and right. He has been the Universal Champion for almost three years now, and there are seemingly no plans for him to drop the title anytime soon. Therefore, when asked about Reigns’ plans to hang up his wrestling boots, the Tribal Chief had an interesting answer.

While talking to Ariel Helwani, Roman Reigns said that he is very happy with his current schedule and work. He has turned 38 now and said that if he takes good care of himself and all goes well, he can easily push his retirement to 45. Reigns also clarified that he does not need to wrestle until then. However, he said that he would look for compelling storylines and feuds to make his time worthwhile if he chooses to stay until he turns 45.

The Head of The Table said, “Whether it’s the accolades chasing; 1000 days, great. Let’s do 1500, okay, cool. 2000, or it’s ‘No, no, no,’ there is something that is pulling me, ‘I have to do this, I have to create this, I have to put this on camera. I have to build this dynamic or rivalry.’ If something like that comes along, then that will motivate me as well.”

The last time Roman was seen on WWE programming was on the fall-out episode of SmackDown after SummerSlam. This was following his victory over Jey Uso in a Tribal Combat match. Jey was betrayed by Jimmy Uso, and the two confronted each other on Friday’s episode. The segment and the show would end with Main Event Jey announcing to the fans that he was done with WWE.

Since becoming the Universal Champion in 2020, Roman Reigns has reduced the number of matches he has on WWE programming. He also restricted his matches to the PLEs and barely wrestled on SmackDown. It was rumored that this was because of the changes he made to his contract, where he also took a hiatus for some time in 2022.

While talking to Ariel Helwani, Roman Reigns also talked about taking some time off this year. However, the champion clarified everything, saying that he loves the arrangement of work he has right now. According to him, people are spreading rumors because no one else has this contract like the Tribal Chief. He said that anyone would take it in a heartbeat if they were offered what he was making from his contract.

The Tribal Chief was also asked if wrestlers in WWE are jealous of him. Reigns said, “I don’t make myself available to it. It’s one of those things where if it was happening, I would hear about it, and if it was happening, I would invite it to my face, and it would never come.”
