WWE NXT results – 06/01/2021 (New Year’s Evil, Last Woman Standing match)
NXT Champion Finn Balor

WWE NXT New Year’s Evil was kicked off by Dexter Lumis. He pulled a lever in a dark ring and we cut to the ring for the first match.

Karrion Kross def. Damian Priest

Kross defeated Priest

Scarlett, along with Karrion Kross made a long elaborate intro. Damian Priest started the match by hitting some early jabs. But Kross countered it with a series of clotheslines.

Priest managed to get back control in the match by hitting a lariat and a brainbuster. He went for the Reckoning but Kross countered with a Northern Lights suplex. Kross hit the Saito suplex followed by a running forearm to the back of the head to pick up the win.

Santos Escobar def. Gran Metalik (retains Cruiserweight Championship)

With Gran Metalik, from the Lucha House Party being a part of the match, there were some really high-flying moves. Escobar too countered the moves pretty well. He countered a Hurricanrana by sending Metalik into the barricades.

Lince Dorado took out Escobar’s teammates before they could assist him. Escobar got distracted. Metalik tried to go for a cover, but Escobar hit a Phantom Driver to pick up the win. Escobar retains his Cruiserweight Championship.

Xia Li def. Katalina Cortez

Xia Li

Li completely dominated at the start of the match. Cortez tried to fight back, but Li’s training has helped her to not feel any damage. She hits a spinning back kick to pick up the win.

Raquel Gonzalez def. Rhea Ripley (Last Woman standing match)

As soon as the match began, Gonzalez was handcuffed to the barricades. But she managed to rip the railing out. She crashed Ripley through the announcer’s table. Ripley lay buried in the bits of furniture.

Gonzalez used the steel steps to attack Ripley and kicked her off the stage. Ripley tried to fight back. She pushed Gonzalez through the glass door. Dakota Kai appeared suddenly. She attacked Ripley with the kendo stick.

Kai stuffed her in a locker and blocked it with a crate. Both the superstars went crashing through the stage. But only Gonzalez managed to climb out, and get the win.

Shotzi Blackheart and Kushida def. Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae

Blackheart went into an all-out attack mode as soon as the match began. LeRae left the ring, in order to avoid the punches. Dexter Lumis was on commentary for this match, but was silent as usual.

The North American Champion was locked into an armbar by Kushida. Austin Theory and Indi ran down to assist Gargano. But Kushida took them out too before rolling up Gargano for the win.

Finn Balor def. Kyle O’Reilly (retains NXT Championship)

O’Reilly started by attacking Balor’s jaw which had been injured. But Balor countered it with a headlock. He even kneed Kyle’s jaw.

O’Reilly almost got counted out. He came back to get Balor in a triangle hold. But Balor countered it with an abdominal stretch as O’Reilly tapped out. Finn Balor is still the NXT Champion. He celebrated as the show ended.
