WWE Raw results – 08/03/2021 (Drew McIntyre faces Sheamus, AJ Styles takes on Randy Orton)

The show kicked off with a video highlighting Bobby Lashley’s WWE Championship win. Lashley said that it took him 16 years to become the WWE Championship. But now, the almighty is going into Wrestlemania.

Bobby Lashley def. The Miz (retains WWE Championship)

The bell rang, and Miz quickly got out of the ring. Lashley quickly grabbed him and brought him into the ring with a delayed vertical suplex. He shouldered Miz in the corner of the ring. Lashley charged, but Miz sidestepped him and sent him into the ring post shoulder first.

Miz pushed Lashley to the corner and went for his patented corner clothesline, but Lashley caught and threw him. Miz rolled out of the ring, Lashley followed. Lashley sent Miz into the barricade and dropped him ribs-first on it. He bounced Miz off the commentary table and put him in the ring.

Lashley put Miz in a fireman’s carry and drove him headfirst into the ring post. He immediately followed up by mounting him and punching away at him. Lashley sent Miz into the ropes and hit an Almighty Spinebuster. He applied the Hurt Lock, and Miz tapped out.

Braun Strowman’s segment

Strowman and McMahon

Strowman made his way to the ring. He wanted to know Shane McMahon’s problem with him. He made Strowman tag in Pearce and costed them the match. If McMahon is making fun of him, Strowman could snap his neck like a twig.

But that could get him fired so he won’t do it. He demands an apology from Shane. McMahon walks down to the ring and simply said, “I apologize.” McMahon walked off, turned around on the ramp and walked off. Strowman shouted that McMahon could say if he had more to sat. McMahon declined.

Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre (No Disqualification Match, No Contest)

Sheamus was making his entrance, but Drew McIntyre attacked him from behind. McIntyre punched him down the ramp and sent him into the barricade. McIntyre sent him chest-first into the ring steps before driving him spine-first into the LED apron.

The match started with McIntyre punching away at him, but Sheamus responds with a kick to the midsection. They trade punches in the center of the ring. McIntyre viciously punched him in the corner, but Sheamus raked the eyes before kneeing him in the face.

Sheamus knocked McIntyre out of the ring and went for a diving clothesline off the apron, but McIntyre ducked. McIntyre sent him into the ring steps before throwing him over the commentary table. Sheamus grabbed a kendo stick, but McIntyre ducked the swing. McIntyre then sent Sheamus over the barricade.

McIntyre got Sheamus in the ring and grabbed the kendo stick. As McIntyre got in the ring, Sheamus kicked the middle rope into his groin. A steel chair was brought into the ring. McIntyre connected with a Future Shock DDT on the chair, but Sheamus kicked out.

Sheamus grabbed the top half of the steel steps, as does McIntyre. They charged and clashed their respective steps, taking each other out. McIntyre went over the barricade, while Sheamus went down at ringside. The referee determined that they cannot continue and called for medical attention. 

Xavier Woods def. Shelton Benjamin

Woods hooked a side headlock, but Benjamin took him down with a back suplex. Benjamin hit a scoop slam before whipping him hard into the corner. Benjamin connected another scoop slam and stared at Kingston.

He applied a chin lock, but Woods got out with a jawbreaker. Woods punched and chopped Benjamin into the ropes. Benjamin reversed a whip, but Woods slid through the legs and hit a forearm shiver. Woods then caught him with a small package for the win.

Riddle def. Slapjack

Riddle and Slapjack

Riddle took Slapjack down with some exploder suplexes, strikes and kicked him out of the ring. Mustafa Ali was furious. Slapjack punched Riddle’s bare foot and slammed him on the apron.

Riddle went for an exploder off the top rope, but Slapjack knocked him off. The US Champion countered a missile dropkick and connected with a vicious Final Flash. Riddle soon hit a Final Flash followed by Bro Derek for the win.

Shane McMahon’s segment

Strowman and McMahon

McMahon was on the ring, as Strowman made his way to the ring. Strowman demanded to know what McMahon had to say. McMahon had engaged in some self introspection. He did like to have fun at other people’s expense, but Strowman isn’t like that. A lot of wordplay, basically calling Strowman stupid followed.

McMahon ran away from the ring, and Strowman chased him. An SUV left, as Strowman followed. McMahon emerged from behind and said, “So stupid.”

Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax def. Lana and Naomi (retains WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Baszler and Lana

Reginald accompanied Jax and Baszler to the ringside. Naomi started against Jax. Jax quickly threw Naomi into the ropes, so Lana tagged in. Naomi and Lana kicked Jax, so Shayna Baszler tagged in.

Baszler knocked Lana to the corner, but Lana fought back with a bulldog. Naomi tagged in and attacked Baszler. Baszler countered with a gutwrench suplex on Naomi.

Reginald grabbed Naomi’s foot to distract her. Lana tagged in. Naomi grabbed Reginald and Lana hit him with a baseball slide. Jax avalanched Lana into Naomi. Jax then powerbombed Lana for the win.

AJ Styles def. Randy Orton

Bliss appeared during the match

Orton powered Styles to the corner. The referee tried to get between them, but Orton leaped over him to punch Styles. Orton took Styles down and stomped the hand.

Styles shouldered Orton in the midsection and whipped him to the opposite corner. Styles blocked a boot and kicked away at the hamstring. Orton crumbled in the corner. The Viper elbowed him in the face to get out. Orton screamed in pain as Styles tightened up the Calf Crusher.

Orton limped around the ring from the Calf Crusher and signalled for the RKO. He drops down and started to size Styles up. Omos dragged Styles out of the ring to save him.

All of a sudden, the lights went purple, and Alexa Bliss appeared on screen in the middle of a pentagram. She said, “Not yet,” and blew out a match. The ring posts exploded with fire. Orton started throwing up that black liquid.

Styles then took him out with a Phenomenal Forearm for the win. Bliss laughed heartily as the show ended.
