“You’re fired,” the iconic Roman Reigns – Paul Heyman association ends

The Bloodline

Roman Reigns has been performing on a completely different level since he returned to WWE at Summerslam 2020. He has been a Heel since he returned to the company, and is being pushed as the biggest Superstar of the company. If Reigns turning Heel wasn’t surprising enough, he was associated with the man who has the best mic skills in the entire industry – Paul Heyman.

Heyman served as the Special Counsel to the Tribal Chief and both of them elevated each other’s performance. It would be wrong to assume that Heyman has played an important role in the Head of the Table’s current reign as the Universal Champion. But things started going downhill when Brock Lesnar showed up at Summerslam 2021, to challenge Roman Reigns.

Fans might remember that prior to becoming the Tribal Chief’s Special Counsel, Paul Heyman was the advocate to the Beast Incarnate.  Throughout this feud it remained unclear that where did Heyman’s loyalty lay. Last week on Smackdown, it seemed like Heyman still had some relation with Lesnar and this week he made it clear when he said that he wasn’t protecting Lesnar from Reigns but it was the other way round!

As soon as Heyman confessed to this, Reigns hugged him and said, “You’re fired!” But this wasn’t all, Reigns Superman Punch-ed Heyman down. He even placed a chair under his head and was about to attack before the Beast Incarnate ran in. He took down The Usos, and even hit Roman Reigns with a couple of F-5s as the show ended.

From the beating that Reigns took, Heyman might have been correct that he really was protecting the Tribal Chief from the Beast Incarnate! Before Reigns and Lesnar collide at WWE Day 1, we still have the Christmas special Smackdown episode to go, where we could witness even more fireworks from the two.

Roman Reigns’ Universal title is under threat

Roman Reigns has completed over 478 days as the Universal Champion. But this is the first time that the title seems under real threat. WWE Day 1 is going to be first time, where Reigns will defend the Universal title without Heyman at his side.

In fact, the Reigs – Lesnar feud is expected to continue till Wrestlemania 38. The Tribal Chief has already won a match against Lesnar at Crown Jewel. So it seems quite likely that the Beast Incarnate will be picking up the win at Day 1 – setting up the next match for Wrestlemania.
