Roman Reigns is undoubtedly the face of the company. His career has gone on to a whole new level since he returned at WWE Summerslam 2020, in a new Heel avatar. If that wasn’t enough, Paul Heyman too was added to the mix, and that has taken to Reigns’ skill on the mic to a legendary level! Reigns is the top Champion of the company, and last year has been more or less about pushing the Tribal Chief as much as possible.
The Head of the Table has delivered one blockbuster feud after another. Interestingly, Reigns currently has not one but two challengers. He will be facing Demon King Finn Balor at Extreme Rules and Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel. It is quite surprising to see that WWE has already announced a match for next month’s PPV, despite this month’s PPV still to take place!
WWE recently announced that The Tribal Chief will be taking on The Beast Incarnate at the Crown Jewel, which is scheduled to take place in October. The announcement took the WWE Universe by surprise considering that Reigns is scheduled to face Balor. Everyone had just one question – does the announcement indicate that Reigns is retaining at Extreme Rules?
The Universal Champion also pointed out the fact that the announcement had been made quite well in advance. He mentioned that the Beasts and Demons (referring to Lensar and Balor, respectively) all line up to acknowledge him months in advance!
Roman Reigns’ win at Extreme Rules is not guaranteed
WWE’s decision to announce the Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns Universal Championship match at Crown Jewel next month could be to swerve the audiences. With this announcement, the fans will be expecting Roman Reigns to retain – setting up the perfect opportunity for WWE to shock the fans with a win for Finn Balor!
A win for Balor is quite a realistic possibility considering that the Demon King is a very protected character on the main roster. Things could get interesting as we could then see Balor get added to the match at Crown Jewel, adding to the star-power of the event.
