WWE Summerslam, often termed as “The Biggest Party of the Summer” has a new addition to the card. Three Championship matches were already part of the card and now a fourth has been announced officially.
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships are going to be on the line. Current Champions – The Usos, will be defending their titles against the father-son tag team duo of Rey and Dominik Mysterio. The two tag teams have been at loggerheads for quite some time now.
The feud had kicked off when the Mysterios were the Champions. But in the kick-off show of Money in the Bank they lost the titles to the Usos. Since then, both the teams have been battling regularly on WWE Smackdown.
WWE Summerslam 2021 match card
WWE is leaving no stone unturned to make WWE Summerslam 2021 the biggest PPV of the year. The top Superstars of the company like Goldberg and John Cena have returned to be a part of the event. So far, 4 matches have been announced officially for the event:
- WWE Universal Championship match – Roman Reigns vs John Cena
- WWE Championship match – Bobby Lashley vs Goldberg
- WWE Raw Women’s Championship match – Nikki A.S.H. vs Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley
- WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship match – The Usos vs The Mysterios
But there are several other feuds which are quite likely to lead to a match at the event. Sasha Banks attacked Bianca Belair, which could lead to a Smackdown Women’s Championship match. AJ Styles and Omos have also been attacking Riddle for quite some time now. This could lead to a Raw Tag Team Championship match where Riddle teams up with Randy Orton.
Apart from all these Championship matches, a match between Seth Rollins and Edge is as good as announced. Additionally, Finn Balor might also get a match at the event, where Corbin will be his likely opponent.
WWE Summerslam 2021 airs live on 21st August.
