WWE Summerslam 2021 is scheduled to feature six Championship matches. While one of them is for the Tag Team titles, the rest are single titles. WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship will be defended by The Usos against The Mysterios.
The Mysterios are the first-ever father-son Tag Team Champions and had won the title from Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. But in the kick-off show of WWE Money in the Bank 2021, they lost the titles to The Usos, enabling all the members of The Bloodline to hold the WWE titles.
With a packed card announced for the “Biggest Party of the Summer”, the Smackdown Tag Team titles match is clearly not the most exciting part of the card. But it does hold the key for kicking-off some of the most exciting storylines for Smackdown.
In a scenario where The Mysterios manage to recapture the title, a possible feud for the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns could open up. The Tribal Chief will obviously be angry if The Usos lose the title, and that could set up a 2-on-1 feud between Reigns and The Usos.
While Jey Uso had a complete feud with Reigns, Jimmy only teased one with him. But after Reigns has gone through virtually the entire WWE roster, it would be exciting to seem him go against not one but two opponents.
A loss for The Mysterios at WWE Summerslam 2021 could benefit Dominik
On the other hand, WWE could even decide to establish The Bloodline as a dominant stable. In such a scenario, The Mysterios might fail to capture the WWE Smackdown tag team titles. This would open up another possibility of Dominik Mysterio to kick off a feud against his father Rey Mysterio.
Since debuting on the main roster, Dominik Mysterio has always been seen following his father. There have been several times where we have seen the Mysterios disagree with each other. But a loss at WWE Smackdown could be the final and Dominik could decide to go separate ways and feud with his own father.
WWE Summerslam airs live on 21st August, 2021.
