WWE Summerslam is considered to be one of the “Big Four” events of WWE. Two of these big-ticket events involve mega stipulations – Royal Rumble and Survivor Series. The other two are fairly simpler events but Summerslam has always been overshadowed by the Showcase of Immortals – Wrestlemania.
But this year, the PPV might just stand out from the entire WWE calendar. The reason being – WWE wants to deliver a Wrestlemania-equivalent event this year at Summerslam. Some big matches have been planned for “The Biggest Party of the Summer.”
But the PPV is quite infamous for the major Superstars often ending up on the losing side. One of the Superstars who is yet to taste success at WWE Summerslam is the Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy. He has appeared on the PPV six times – and is yet to earn his first win. Hardy’s first appearance, and consequently her loss, at WWE Summerslam came in, where he lost to MVP.
The next year, he lost the World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk. Then he continued to appear on the dark matches at the PPV. His final appearance at the PPV came in 2018, when he failed to capture a title from Shinsuke Nakamura.
Jeff Hardy might face Karrion Kross at WWE Summerslam
On the fallout episode of WWE Raw, from Money in the Bank, which was also the first Raw since the resumption of the live events – Jeff Hardy faced NXT Champion Karrion Kross. Prior to this match, Hardy had been consistently losing matches to mid-card wrestlers.
On the other hand, Karrion Kross was undefeated on the black-and-gold brand. But WWE surprised the fans when Hardy picked quite an easy win over Kross. While Kross is busy feuding against Samoa Joe on NXT, a likely feud against Hardy seems to be on the cards.
