WWE Summerslam is all set become a PPV that is equivalent to Wrestlemania. WWE is leaving no stone unturned for “The Biggest Party of the Summer”. Every week a new announcement for the event is hyping up the fans.
Major Superstars like John Cena and Goldberg have already announced their returns for the PPV. Additionally, for the first time ever, the PPV will also be airing live in several theatres. Another major Superstar who is likely to appear at the event is Rated R Superstar Edge.
Edge will be facing Seth Rollins at WWE Summerslam. Interestingly, he also happens to be one of the most successful Superstars at the PPV. In the history of the event, Rated R Superstar Edge has appeared in 13 matches at the event, and has emerged victorious on 11 occasions.
Edge’s first ever appearance at Summerslam came way back in 2002, when he defeated Eddie Guerrero. In 2004, he even successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship in a triple-threat match, against Batista and Chris Jericho.
His dominance continued for the next two years – where he defeated top WWE Superstars John Cena and Matt Hardy. He faced loss at the 2008 event, when he was pinned by The Undertaker. His final appearance came in 2010 – when he was a part of the team that infamously defeated The Nexus.
Rated R Superstar Edge will face Seth Rollins at WWE Summerslam 2021
For a major part of 2021, Edge was feuding with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The duo last clashed at WWE Money in the Bank. It seemed like Edge would finally manage to defeat Reigns, before Reigns attacked him.
On the latest episode of WWE Smackdown, Rollins made it clear that he hates legends like Edge and Cena who just jump the line and do whatever they want, unlike Rollins, who earns everything. Rollins even referred to him as Grandpa Edge.
WWE Summerslam airs live on 21st August, 2021.
