Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong seeded 7 played some brilliant badminton, probably one of the best of his career to oust the second seed Chou Tien Chen in three spectacular games 17-21, 21-18, 21-15 an hour and six minutes. The match was gruelling, intense and close. Needless to say, Chou was considered a much better player, expected to win the match. But the athlete from Hong Kong played beautifully and showed much grit, determination and confidence, snatching the same away form the second seed.

Axelsen Ginting Thailand Open
Thailand Open 2021 Semifinal: Anthony Ginting vs Viktor Axelsen

The Ginting vs Axelsen match was such a thriller in the first game itself. Both players put their best foot forward. It seemed like the one who held their nerves better and had a wee bit of luck on their side would win the match. The competition was intense. Both were attacking well and defending well too. The game ended with Axelsen on the winning side 21-19. At the change of end, Ginting dictated rallies and many errors came off Axelsen which led to Ginting taking away the game 21-13. Axelsen trailed for the first time in the first half of the third game, Ginting played a more technically sound game. Axelsen bounced back, cutting down errors and playing some wonderful sharp-angled cross-court winners. He soon took the lead 17-12. Giving just one point away, Axelsen trumped the Indonesian 21-19, 13-21, 21-13.

An exciting final is in store for the men’s singles final. WIll Vikor Axelsen clinch the title and make acomeback post injuries? Will Ng Ka Long clinch this huge title, creating yet another upset? It is going to be interesting to watch!
