UFC President Dana White isn’t happy with people constantly asking about Nate Diaz and has revealed that he isn’t close to booking a Nate Diaz bout. Nate Diaz has been hinting at a possibility of a comeback to the octagon, after having not fought in almost 15 months. The Stockton Slugger, recently opened up on his comeback and expressed his desire to take on top ranked lightweights like Dustin Poirier and Charles Oliveira.
At the UFC 258 post-fight conference, Dana White was questioned by The Schmo, about what the current scenario was, regarding Nate Diaz. Dana White revealed that the UFC is nowhere close to booking a Diaz fight, and also that an announcement would be made, if they were to book one.
‘If we did, we’d announce it, we’d say it‘
“Why do you guys keep asking me about these guys? No. If we did, we’d announce it, we’d say it. You guys eat this sh*t up like f*cking candy,” White replied, on being questioned about Nate Diaz.
Nate Diaz, last fought Jorge Masvidal, way back in November 2019, for the BMF title at UFC 244. He eventually lost the fight due via TKO, due to doctor stoppage. Since then, Diaz who has made sporadic appearances in the UFC, since 2017, hasn’t stepped inside the octagon, although he is close to making one now.
He also revealed in the recent episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA show that he had no intentions of going back to lightweight, and that he would like to stick to the welterweight division. The 35-year old California native, believes that he can keep himself in shape and appear more frequently in the year 2021, with a fight against Leon Edwards, looming as well.
