The IOC Executive Board has approved the agreement to host the Youth Olympics in Senegal and has been subsequently been pushed back to 2026. Confirmed by IOC President, Thomas Bach as he quoted, “This amicable agreement illustrates the mutual trust between Senegal and the IOC. I would like to express my sincere thanks to President Macky Sall, a great friend and supporter of the Olympic Movement, for this exceptional relationship of trust and quality. As this pandemic has affected every single sporting competition for schedule until next 2 years at least. Youth Olympics have also been postponed to 2026 from 2022.
Digvijay Singh Deo also confirmed the new via his Twitter handle and also mentioned that Mumbai was also in contention of being the host for the tournament.
Hosting the tournament in 2026, given Senegal the time to make ambiguous preparations for the Youth Olympics. This postponement meets the requirement of responsibility and the concern for efficiency imposed by current circumstances.
However, in depth discussions are awaited but It has been confirmed that the particular tournament has been shifted to 2026.
