Zion Williamson makes an impressive debut to the 2020-21 season as the New Orleans Pelicans play Defending Eastern Conference Champions Miami Heat. The Heat beat the Pelicans 98-111. After the Pelicans just missed out on the playoffs last season, Williamson might have his eye on taking the franchise to the furthest distance possible with an even improved roster this year. Zion is always referred as the next ‘LeBron James’ of the NBA. If he is to achieve that tag, he might have to start achieving more and this season might be the perfect opportunity.

As the Pelicans played the Heat, it was Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram who turned the heat against the opposition in the contest. Williamson scored 32 points and 14 rebounds. Whereas Brandon Ingram scored 28 in the game. As the Pelicans lost to the Heat, the former franchise has registered their first loss of the 2020-21 season. Ever since the start of the NBA Bio-Bubble, Pelicans have been a completely different team. However, they had left way too much gap to cover to make it to the playoffs. Hence any form resulted in their exit.

The New Orleans Pelican won their first game against Toronto Raptors convincingly even though Zion did not play. Which showed the strength of their roster. Although talking about Raptors vs Pelicans’ game, the latter franchise had no real help from their bench apart from Josh Hart. Even veteran JJ Reddick played decent minutes, yet was struggling to register points against his name. Whereas for the Heat, Robinson, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic scored were they key offensive players.

This is a key season for the Pelicans as they acquired a much-needed experience in Steven Adams. With Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson in good health, great expectations are placed on their shoulders this season. Let’s see how these young guns carry out their responsibilities as the remaining season unfolds.
