Kawhi Leonard was supposed to be taking this offseason to prepare for the next campaign, with the hope that the Los Angeles Clippers would build on their past season’s form.

Little did he know that he would be named as the primary beneficiary of millions of dollars that were somehow routed through the Clippers’ owners through another company.

When Pablo Torre blew up the basketball world with proof, it became clear that the star forward received $28 million from a now-bankrupt company, Aspiration.

Later, it came to light that he was supposed to benefit from an additional $20 million in company stock before it went bankrupt. All this while, Clippers’ owner, Steve Ballmer, reiterated that he or his franchise had nothing to do with the endorsement deal between his star player and the company.

After the NBA launched an investigation, further revelations came out that Kawhi Leonard’s uncle, Dennis Robertson, had placed similar demands on the Toronto Raptors during the 2019 free agency.

Only after the Canadian franchise declined to meet those demands did the 2-time champion sign with the Clippers. Now, in the latest episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out, they reveal that Kawhi Leonard did not receive a payment from Aspiration on time.

The $1.75 million payment finally came from the company, 9 days after a company registered to Clippers vice chairman Dennis J. Wong sent a wire transfer worth $1.99 million to Aspiration.

An anonymous former employee of Aspiration was on a call with the podcast to confirm this. He also confirmed that the payment was made to Kawhi Leonard on the day the company laid off 20 employees as they were headed to bankruptcy.

Fans fume as more proof shows Kawhi Leonard received payments under the table

Basketball fans have already listened to or read about the countless examples of how Kawhi Leonard received benefits to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Now this new evidence confirms those thoughts, as it has become clear to them that the franchise did everything possible to circumvent the salary cap.

The NBA now has even more proof to penalize the star player and the franchise. However, something else came to their attention after this episode came out. It so happens that Kawhi Leonard played in just 5 of their first 24 games, citing knee tightness.

From the following day onwards, he played in 47 out of the remaining 58 games. It so happens that this stretch starts around the same time Wong sends the money to Aspiration.

Fans believe this is further proof that the 34-year-old pushed the Los Angeles Clippers to do everything possible to make sure he is paid what he was supposed to get. Fans believe the league should take action. Examples of those reactions are below.

As the days go by, more and more evidence is coming out about the salary circumvention methods employed by the Los Angeles Clippers to ensure their most important player takes to the floor. Now it is up to the league to decide how to approach this scandal.

After trolling his former teammate Jimmy Butler, among others, the NBA champion is now back with another epic troll, this time focused on these latest allegations against Kawhi Leonard.

He uses a clip from the 2007 movie Ocean’s Thirteen, where Don Cheadle‘s character, Basher, storms into the office of Willy Bank (Al Pacino). He then demands that he be paid his fees in cash. Love added a caption to the clip, which he shared on his Instagram feed.

This was a satirical take from the former Miami Heat forward. He might not be implying anything, as he is just going by what is being said in the media. Nevertheless, this was another one of his elite troll posts.
