The recent boom in professional wrestling has brought a lot of new eyes to the WWE. Many mainstream celebrities have even started openly talking about the product. American rapper Sexyy Red became a regular on NXT for a few weeks in 2024, appearing on both weekly programming and PLEs. Apparently, she impressed the WWE so much that the company even offered her a contract.
During a recent interview with Dazed, Red revealed that she was offered a contract by WWE to join them in a permanent role as a wrestler. However, her busy schedule did not allow her the necessary time to train. Thus, she decided to stick to doing cameo appearances for the promotion instead.
Rapping and wrestling are pretty much the same. It’s not quite acting, but it’s kind of acting too, right? Because when we go home and take off all our jewels and gold and remove the costumes we wear, we then have to go right back to reality with our families.

Sexyy Red made her first appearance on NXT on May 28th, 2024, when she unveiled the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Furthermore, it was also announced that the 26-year-old would be the official host for NXT Battleground 2024.

NXT commentator Booker T had joked that he wanted to see a twerking competition between Red and Lola Vice. This statement caused a lot of controversy in the wrestling world and infuriated Brooks Jensen. However, the Hall of Famer actually got his wish at NXT Battleground when both of them were seen twerking in a backstage segment.
Trick Williams talks about the first thing that Sexyy Red said to him
Sexyy Red appeared on the developmental brand when Trick Williams was still the NXT Champion. She was even at ringside for one of his matches, and the two had several interactions together. During an appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, the 30-year-old talked about their first interaction.
Trick Williams really enjoyed meeting the rapper. When they met prior to the episode, she already knew who the former NXT Champion was. Furthermore, they hyped each other up before they appeared in front of the cameras for the show.
It was dope, man. Meeting Sexyy Red was like meeting one of my cousins. She a real chick, you know, from around the way.

Red was down to have fun and do whatever the appearance demanded of her. Having her ringside felt natural, and he did not feel the pressure of having a mainstream celebrity. She even went above and beyond to spice up his entrance, which he was not expecting.
