Cody Durden wasn’t initially part of the UFC Vegas 97 fight card. However, he took advantage of a short-notice opportunity and secured a win over Matt Schnell with a ninja choke. After his victory, Durden made an intriguing proposal to Dana White and the UFC to improve his financial status. As such, he took to his socials and made an indirect request to the UFC boss man Dana White.
The UFC Vegas 97 fight card provided some astounding performances from several fighters. Cody Durden and Natalia Silva were two of the standouts, to be precise. As such, Durden won the ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus, while Silva won the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus. However, even after earning a $50,000 bonus, the American fighter was seemingly interested in multiplying it.

Interestingly, Cody Durden wasn’t scheduled to fight Matt Schnell this weekend. Following Schnell’s initially scheduled opponent Alessandro Costa’s withdrawal, Durden got the chance. ‘Custom-Made’ took the fight on a four-day notice and made the best of the opportunity. Short-notice fights are quite challenging as, on several occasions, prominent fighters have hampered their careers doing that.
Even though the 34-year-old Schnell tried his level best, he couldn’t come out as the victor. As for Durden, it was an impressive showing, especially after taking the fight off two straight losses. Following that exceptional performance, several fighters sang praises of the 33-year-old. Interestingly, among them, former UFC flyweight Muhammad Mokaev, while commending Durden, suggested something to UFC.
A former UFC fighter has an intriguing plan for Cody Durden’s next fight
Muhammad Mokaev was a good prospect in the UFC flyweight division. However, after a fallout with the UFC executives, the promotion released him. Even though Mokaev left UFC, he still follows the fight weeks in the promotion. Recently, he was in awe of Cody Durden’s performance against Matt Schnell.
While singing praises of Durden, Mokaev suggested an intriguing matchup for the 33-year-old. As such, the English fighter wants the UFC and Dana White to give the title shot. In doing so, Mokaev made a reference to another flyweight fighter’s journey at the promotion.

Muhammad Mokaev reflected on Steve Erceg’s quick title shot opportunity just after three fights in the promotion. Before clashing against champion Alexandre Pantoja, Erceg had a convincing victory over Schnell, as Durden now does. However, now it remains to be seen how the UFC and Dana White feel about this matchup and Durden’s request.
