Brazilian star Neymar Jr.’s astronomical salary at Al-Hilal has left football fans in a frenzy. Reportedly, the Brazilian forward earned a whopping $2.4 million per minute. The 32-year-old forward’s salary and earning details were most recently revealed on social media.

Neymar Jr. had signed for Al-Hilal back in 2023 from French giants PSG on a two-year contract. He joined the long list of players exiting Europe for the middle-east. He was signed for a massive transfer fee of around $90 million, making him one of the most expensive transfers in Saudi Arabia. Neymar’s annual salary is reportedly $130 million, six times what he earned at the Ligue 1 side or at FC Barcelona.

This easily makes Neymar one of the highest paid footballers in the world, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. French media outlet Foot Mercato calculated the Brazilian forward’s salary and earnings over the last year, reaching gob smacking results. Neymar Jr. reportedly earned $101 million at Al-Hilal, despite making just two appearances all throughout the year.

He had, in October 2023, suffered a knee injury, that has kept him out for several months. As a result of the injury, Neymar only featured twice for Jorge Jesus’ side in 2024. He came on as a substitute, and played a total of just 42 minutes. Foot Mercato’s report even suggests that he received a staggering $1.2 million for each touch throughout the two matches.

Al-Hilal will definitely be looking to offload the 32-year-old forward next summer and cut down on its excessive wage bill. Neymar Jr. is being linked with a surprising move back to his boyhood club, Brazilian side Santos FC

Al-Hilal target Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as Neymar Jr.’s replacement

Saudi PL giants Al-Hilal lead the race to sign Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah next summer after his contract at Anfield comes to an end. He is being viewed as a Neymar Jr. replacement, amid uncertainty surrounding the Brazilian’s future at the club.

Brazilian star Neymar Jr. has endured an injury-prone spell at Al-Hilal, making just seven appearances in two years. The club is thus willing to offload him next summer. Mohamed Salah has emerged as a potential replacement, with the Egyptian yet to sign a new contract at Liverpool. Al-Hilal had attempted to sign him last season as well, but had their $100 million bid rejected by Liverpool.

Moreover, Mohamed Salah’s recent comments over his future at Liverpool has reignited Al-Hilal’s interest in signing him. Meanwhile, Neymar Jr. has been rumored to reunite with his former Barcelona teammates, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, at Inter Miami.
