$11 Billion worth Sixers owner called out for ‘pettiness’ after Eagles destroy Commanders

Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris

Since 2011, Josh Harris started to invest in sports teams and first became the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers. Then onwards, he kept adding other franchises to his portfolio and now has the likes of the Washington Commanders and the New Jersey Devils under his leadership.

After working through years of building through ‘The Process’, the 76ers were showing signs of becoming a legitimate title contender. However, their expectations fell short when one after the other superstar alongside Joel Embiid did not work out.

This season, they started from scratch and built what was on paper a serious challenger to the Boston Celtics’ throne. However, they are now 17-27 and are struggling to win games. On the other hand, Josh Harris’ other major sports team, the Washington Commanders, reached the NFC Championship game.

In that game, they faced the Philadelphia Eagles and eventually lost 23-55. In the immediate aftermath, almost all Philadelphia based sports teams congratulated the Eagles for reaching another Super Bowl. But the 76ers did not.

Barstool Sports alleged that since Harris’ Commanders lost, he might have stopped his 76ers from congratulating their opponents. A peek into the basketball franchise’s X account confirms that. In sports, teams from the same state support each other in some way.

If they are from the same city, that is a major reason for them to celebrate such a big win. But it seems Harris is petty enough to not allow that to happen. It might have been the reason Paul George looked stone faced while he was caught in traffic amidst celebrating Eagles fans.

Eagles owner wanting to purchase Boston Celtics could complicate matters for Josh Harris

The situation between the Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia 76ers could get worse for Josh Harris if another development goes through. Longtime sports scribe Bill Simmons revealed this while on his podcast The Ringer.

The Celtics, it was their first round of buyers, they had to cut down their perspective buyers. Four or five people made the first round. One of the people was the Eagles owner, Jeffrey Lurie, who is apparently from Massachusetts.

Bill Simmons said

Jeffrey Lurie may not have the $11 billion like Josh Harris does, but his reputation of running the Philadelphia Eagles as a successful sports team could help tilt the favors. However, for Harris, it will only complicate matters.

If Jeffrey Lurie does end up purchasing the Boston Celtics from the Grousbeck’s, it could negatively impact Harris’ 76ers. The way the Celtics are set up, they are going to be NBA title contenders for a long time.

Along with the Eagles’ methodology of being successful without blowing the bank, the Celtics could follow that even though they have two $300 million contracts on their roster. Therefore, chances are both Lurie’s teams could be the obstacles to Harris’ teams in their pursuit of championship glory.
