$200 million star Paul George’s ripped to shreds for 2-point performance: “Worst contract in NBA history”

Paul George

Philadelphia 76ers’ Paul George is probably in the worst-ever form of his NBA career. Notably, the 76ers played against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday and lost (96-100). George’s poor showing added more misery to the 76ers already weakened lineup. They were without star players Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid going into the game.

When they lost by four points, however, they still had a player with a maximum contract on the court since Paul George was in the lineup. To offer Philadelphia a new big three, George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the Sixers as a free agent over the summer. However, George gave the squad a big two in the game against the Nets, as in points.

Fans were left stunned as they bombarded the social media platforms with immense disappointment and anger toward George. He ended with two points on seven shots in 37 minutes, earning more than $49 million this season.

Compared to Justin Edwards, Quentin Grimes, Jared Butler, and Kelly Oubre Jr., George took fewer shots. In fifteen minutes, both Andre Drummond and Jeff Dowtin Jr. were able to get off five shots. This leaves PG in a concerning situation.

With George back from his most recent absence, the Sixers are presently 0–5. He is averaging 12.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in games where he plays close to 32 minutes. Who else was healthy never really mattered if this was the only thing the Sixers would get out of George. There is much more to prove for the Sixers star going forward into the season.

Fans fume over Paul George’s performance against Nets

Things are not looking good for Paul George and the Philadelphia 76ers this season. To make matters worse, George scored just 2 points against the Brooklyn Nets in 37 minutes, sending fans into massive turmoil. Not only that, the NBA veteran was signed by the Sixers on a huge deal. They expected him to be a crucial player this season.

However, it has turned out to be the complete opposite. He has been poor, and so are his teammates. Many fans were left fuming with his performance against the Nets as they took to social media to vent out their frustrations. One fan wrote on X, “Worst contract in NBA history.” Check out some of the reactions below:

Most Sixers fans targeted George regarding his contract. Some fans justified it as George is on a max-out contract as mentioned above. With the amount of money he is earning, the performances are not up to the mark. Notably, injuries have also kept the Sixers star out of major portions of this NBA season. Now, it is to be seen how Geroge bounces back from this lackluster performance this season.
