The 2021 ICC T20 World Cup is all set to take place in India between October and November next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly looks pretty thrilled to host the mega event in India.

The former India cricketer shared several images posing with the trophy on his social media handles. The pictures also featured BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Ganguly wrote: “It’s time for India in 21… ICC T20 World Cup.”

“It is a matter of great honour for us to be hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. India has successfully staged several global events since the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 1987. I am sure cricketers from around the world would be excited at the prospect of playing in our cricket-loving country,” the BCCI president said.

“I have enjoyed being part of ICC events as a player and know from experience that nothing beats the buzzing atmosphere of a global cricket event with millions around the world watching every game. And now look forward to playing my part as an administrator as we prepare to host the prestigious event,” he added.

The Indian cricket board successfully organised the recently-concluded 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in UAE. BCCI looks confident to conduct a smooth event which is 11 months from now. However, the organising body needs to take all preventive measures as the COVID-19 situation is not slowing down in India.

India also organised the last ICC T20 World Cup in 2016 where the West Indies emerged as the title winners. The Indian team had a disappointing run at that tournament after suffering a defeat in the semi-finals.
