2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Austria vs Scotland Live Stream, Preview and Prediction
Austria and Scotland will face off in Group F of the European World Cup 2022 Qualifying on Tuesday in Vienna, and with both teams seeking a critical victory, it will certainly be a tense match.
Austria vs Scotland: Preview
Austria met Scotland in the tournament’s first encounter, which ended in a tie after both sides scored two goals. The second match, against the Faroe Islands, resulted in an easy 3-1 victory. However, despite a promising start to the tournament, they were defeated 0-4 by Denmark in their third encounter. They beat Moldova before being defeated 2-5 by Israel. Franco Foda’s side is currently fourth in Group F, one point behind Tuesday’s visitors, with seven points from five games. The team’s primary worry would be their defence, as they have allowed 12 goals in their previous outings.
Scotland began their World Cup Qualifying campaign with two draws, 2-2 against Austria and 1-1 against Israel. They won their third encounter against the far inferior Faroe Islands, scoring four goals, two of which were scored by midfielder John McGinn. They were beaten 0-2 by table-toppers Denmark before rebounding back in a hard-fought encounter against Moldova when their striker Lyndon Dykes scored the lone goal. Steve Clarke’s men have an opportunity to be in the top two as Israel travel to Copenhagen to face unstoppable Denmark for their next game. The Tartan Army are just one point ahead of the hosts in the points standings, taking third place with 8 points.
