Robert MacIntyre earned his first PGA Tour win at the RBC Canadian Open and followed it up by clinching the Genesis Scottish Open. He shot a final round 68 to finish ahead of Ben Griffin.
MacIntyre became only the second Scottish golfer to win two PGA Tour tournaments in a single season, following Sandy Lyle in 1988. This was a remarkable accomplishment for the 27-year-old Scot, who placed second to Rory McIlroy in this tournament the prior year. After winning the Genesis Scottish Open 2024, he talked about his family background and upbringing.
I'm from a working-class background. I've got two older sisters. My parents foster. We've currently got a foster boy just now, that's been with us for six, seven year. I was given a great opportunity by my whole family. We used to have a horse for my sisters, couldn't afford to do both, so my sisters gave up the horse and gave me a chance to go and travel some within Britain...It was never given.Robert MacIntyre reflected the contribution of his family
It is worth noting that MacIntyre had a successful amateur career, winning the Scottish Youths Championship and the Scottish Boys Open Stroke-Play Championship in 2013. He represented Scotland in the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy and played in the 2017 Walker Cup.
Robert MacIntyre amped it up in the final round to win the Scottish Open
Robert MacIntyre won the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open, which took place from July 11 to 14 at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. MacIntyre fired 67 in the final round to finish at 18-under par, one stroke ahead of runner-up Adam Scott. This was MacIntyre’s second PGA Tour victory of the season, after winning the RBC Canadian Open earlier in the year.

MacIntyre entered the final round two shots behind Ludvig Aberg but made a late charge with an eagle on the 16th hole to pull even with Scott. On the 18th hole, MacIntyre sank a 22-foot birdie putt to secure the victory in front of the enthusiastic Scottish crowd.
MacIntyre won the winner’s share of the $9 million jackpot, collecting $1.62 million. This victory also elevated him from 39th to 16th in the FedExCup standings.
