This 2024 version of Team USA has drawn constant comparisons with the Michael Jordan-led 1992 Dream Team. With the way they have been playing so far, first in the friendlies and now after the group games of the Paris Olympics 2024, it seems the narrative is tilting towards the current squad. With the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant leading the lines, Draymond Green had to agree.
The 2-time Olympic gold medalist took to his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, to talk about how this comparison. He explained how he saw his friends and colleagues against the Dream Team by saying:
I'm taking the 2024 team seven days a week. I think the 2024 team beats the Dream Team five out of seven games. Gotta give the Dream Team some respect. They got GOATs, they've got Hall of Famers, we get it. I just think versatility on that team, the star power, the scoring, I don't think the Dream Team can do anything with that. A ten-point loss.Draymond Green on The Draymond Green Show
Green was clear that the way Michael Jordan and his Hall of Fame teammates play, they would have found it to be difficult against the 2024 Team USA. Team USA 2024 is more complete and dominating.
Draymond Green did add that, had the 1992 Dream Team selected Shaquille O’Neal instead of Christian Laettner, the tide would have turned in favor of Michael Jordan’s team. Suggesting that they cannot dominate this Paris Olympics 2024 squad.
He is another among those who have said with proof that this team is better than the 1992 Dream Team. Along with their athletic ability, they can score at multiple levels, something the Hall of Famers did not have. That will give them the edge if a battle could have taken place.
Draymond Green sees Team USA handing off the baton to Anthony Edwards
The Golden State Warriors superstar has seen the development of Anthony Edwards. Keeping that in mind, he observed how the superstars have been around the 22-year-old at the Olympics. He explained his observations while on the same episode:
I think what I love most is the way Bron, Steph and KD are embracing him to be that next young guy up. And kind of giving him the keys to the team. He’s running the show whenever he’s on the floor. He’s confident as hell and very close to cocky. You got to be very close to cocky, in order to be great at anything. That separates him.

Draymond Green has vouched for Anthony Edwards to be the face of the NBA in the past. With this statement, he is sure that the future will play out how he has envisioned.
Edwards has become the leading star of the Minnesota Timberwolves. With that and the aura that he personifies, it will not be long before he is revered as the best player in the NBA. If he can perform at this level amongst the likes of LeBron James and the other superstars, it is an indication that he wants to be the best.
All of this will bode well for the league. Considering that when the Big 3 retire, the game will need someone to bank upon for its growth. His performances at the Paris Olympics 2024 are only going to solidify that notion.
