The second Major of the season, French Open, is scheduled to start on Sunday (May 25th). Iga Swiatek will enter the tournament as the defending champion.
She is the three-time defending champion, but this season she will be entering the tournament as a fifth seed. She won’t be the heavy favorite, given that she hasn’t yet reached a final since winning her fourth French Open title last year.

Second quarter
Jasmine Paolini is a part of this draw. She was the runner-up last year and will enter the tournament after a successful run at the Italian Open (beat Coco Gauff in the final).

Paolini could run into Swiatek in the quarterfinals. But before that, she could face 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Donna Vekic or Elina Svitolina in the fourth round. Swiatek, before reaching the quarterfinals, could meet Elena Rybakina in the fourth round.
Quarterfinal prediction: Jasmine Paolini vs. Iga Swiatek
Third quarter
Mirra Andreeva is projected to face Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals. Pegula, this year’s Charleston Open champion, however, lost four tournaments without winning two consecutive matches.

Before reaching the quarterfinal, Andreeva could set up a fourth-round clash with Paula Badosa. Pegula, on the other hand, could face Karolina Muchova in the last 16. Other seeded players in this quarter are: Yulia Puntintseva, Daria Kasatkina, Elise Mertens, and Magdalena French.
Quarterfinal prediction: Mirra Andreeva vs. Jessica Pegula
Fourth quarter
Gauff will headline this quarter. She will be hoping to reach three consecutive finals on clay this season as before the French Open, she played the final in Rome and Madrid.

Gauff was the runner-up in 2022 (lost to Swiatek). Before reaching the final, she could face Madison Keys in the quarterfinal. The American, also the reigning Australian Open champion, could set up a fourth-round clash with compatriot Emma Navarro.
Quarterfinal prediction: Coco Gauff vs. Madison Keys
Semifinals
Sabalenka will be the favorite if she faces Zheng, while Paolini will be expected to beat Swiatek. Many had hoped to see the 23-year-old end her trophy drought on the clay swing, but she lost all the tournaments she played without reaching the final.

Andreeva has been on song this season, as she won two consecutive WTA 1000 titles. If Gauff faces Keys, she will certainly be the favorite because of her recent performance on clay.
Semifinal prediction:
- Aryna Sabalenka vs. Jasmine Paolini
- Mirra Andreeva vs. Coco Gauff
Final
Sabalenka, thanks to her dominating performance this season, will be the heavy favorite to win her first French Open title. If she meets Gauff, then it will be their 11th encounter on the tour.

They are 5-5 in the head-to-head matchups. Gauff has not yet won a title since 2024. Sabalenka’s three titles, on the other hand, includes her third Madrid Open, apart from which, she also reached the Stuttgart Open final.
Final prediction: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Coco Gauff
Winner prediction: Aryna Sabalenka
