The 2025 Genesis Invitational saw Ludvig Aberg clinch his 2nd PGA Tour victory of his career. The Swedish international fired a final-round score of 6-under 66 to finish the event 12-under par and one stroke ahead of runner-up Maverick McNealy.

The Genesis Invitational, which is a signature event, was played at the Torrey Pines course this year. This event saw some of the biggest names of the PGA Tour compete in a limited field which has a purse prize of $20 million.

Aberg, the World No.6 golfer, had a mixed start in the final round. On the front nine, he had 4 birdies and 2 bogeys which put him 2-under for the day. At the back nine, he made four more birdies to go 6-under and eventually claimed the title.

For his performance in this tournament, Aberg bagged a whopping cheque of $4 million. This is more than what the other signature events on the tour offer. For example, Rory McIlroy, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am two weeks ago, claimed $3.6 million from the $20,000,000 purse pool.

Apart from the big cheque Aberg also earned 700 FedEx Cup points. Meanwhile, McNealy, who fired an incredible score of 64 in the final round, took home $2.2 million for finishing as the runner-up in this signature event hosted by Tiger Woods.

How much did other golfers earn from the Genesis Invitational?

Unlike the other signature events which do not have a cut, the Genesis Invitational does feature a cut. This means that not every golfer in the field earned a pay cheque. While Ludvig Aberg and Maverick McNealy took home nearly $6.2 million from the purse, there was still plenty for others.

World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, had a round to forget on Saturday. He shot a score of 76, his worst since the final round of the 2022 Players Championship. In the final round, he bounced back strongly and finished T3 along with Patrick Rogers. The two of them got $1.2 million from the purse.

Meanwhile, Patrick Cantlay, Tommy Fleetwood, Tony Finau, and Danny McCarthy all came T5 while finishing 8-under par for the tournament. They all got $736,500 for their showing. Akshay Bhatia, Justin Thomas, and Nick Taylor finished T9 and earned $566,667 each.

Tom Hoge finished bottom of the leaderboard at 54th. After making the cut, he finished 12-over par and earned $48,000 from the purse.

On the other hand, some top golfers like Max Homa, Jordan Spieth, and Viktor Hovland failed to make the cut after Round 2. As a result of this, they went home empty-handed from this tournament.
