First quarter
Aryna Sabalenka will headline this quarter. The first seed is seeking her first title in the tournament and this could be the year that can see her emerge victorious.

But to do that, she would have to go past several difficult opponents. She could run into Dayana Yastremska, Marta Kostyuk, Daria Kasatkina, or Elena Rybakina. All of these players are a part of this quarter. Qinwen Zheng is the second-highest seed here and is projected to meet Sabalenka in the last eight.
Quarterfinal prediction: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Qinwen Zheng
Second quarter
Coco Gauff will be entering the Italian Open after playing the Madrid Open final. The American, like at the Madrid Open, is projected to meet Mirra Andreeva in the quarterfinals.

But before that, she could face Belinda Bencic, Emma Raducanu, or Amanda Anisimova. Apart from these players, this quarter also features Magda Linette, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Emma Navarro, and Clara Tauson.
Quarterfinal prediction: Coco Gauff vs. Mirra Andreeva
Third quarter
Jasmine Paolini, who reached the French Open final last year, is one of the favorites to reach the quarterfinals. But she could run into this year’s Stuttgart Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth round.

The second half of this quarter features Jessica Pegula, Elise Mertens, Yulia Putintseva, Karolina Muchova, and Diana Shnaider, among others. Pegula, this year’s Charleston Open champion, is expected to reach the quarterfinal and meet Ostapenko.
Quarterfinal prediction: Jelena Ostapenko vs. Jessica Pegula
Fourth quarter
Iga Swiatek will headline this quarter and is expected to play another match in the last four. She could set up a clash with Danielle Collins in the third round, and Elina Svitolina in the fourth round.

The first part of this quarter features Madison Keys, who Swiatek could play in the quarterfinals. Paula Badosa too has signed up for the tournament after skipping the Madrid Open. Four-time Major champion Naomi Osaka will be hoping to make a deep run.
Quarterfinal prediction: Madison Keys vs. Iga Swiatek
Semifinals
In Madrid, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff met each other in the final. But in Italy, they could set up a clash in the semifinals; but for that to happen, Gauff has to once again knock out Mirra Andreeva.

Jelena Ostapenko is expected to reach the semifinals and meet Iga Swiatek, against whom, she has a perfect 6-0 head-to-head record. Ostapenko will once again be the favorite to win if she meets Swiatek, given that the latter has suffered a dip in her form.
Semifinal prediction:
- Aryna Sabalenka vs. Coco Gauff
- Jelena Ostapenko vs. Iga Swiatek
Final
Aryna Sabalenka is the most successful player in the season so far, having won three titles, including two WTA 1000 ones. On the clay swing, she reached the final of the Stuttgart Open and won the Madrid Open for the third time in her career.

If Sabalenka progresses to the final, she will be playing her seventh final of the season. Sabalenka could once again set up a showdown against Jelena Ostapenko, whom she defeated thrice in their four encounters.
Final prediction: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Jelena Ostapenko
Winner prediction: Aryna Sabalenka
