2025 Miami Open Men’s Draw: Preview and Prediction featuring Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, and Jack Draper

The 40th edition of the Miami Open is currently underway at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. It’s the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season following Indian Wells and the second leg of the Sunshine Doubles. The Men’s singles main draw will start on March 19 a day after the women’s singles main draw.

Jannik Sinner, who beat Grigor Dimitrov in the final last year, is the reigning champion but he won’t be defending his title due to the three-month doping ban and will make his tennis comeback after May 4. World No.2 Alexander Zverev will be the top seed.

First Quarter

Alexander Zverev is projected to face Frances Tiafoe in the fourth round but before that, he could face Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the third round. Jack Draper could meet Holger Rune in the fourth round which would also be a rematch of the 2025 Indian Wells final.

The two-time Grand Slam finalist could meet Draper in the quarterfinals. Other seeded players who featured in the first quarter are Alexei Popyrin, Tomas Machac, and Arthur Fils.

Second Quarter

Taylor Fritz, Denis Shapovalov, Hubert Hurkacz, Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur, Ugo Humbert, Matteo Berrettini, and Andrey Rublev are the seeded players in this quarter. This second quarter also has 2016 Miami Open finalist Kei Nishikori.

Fritz, the 2024 US Open finalist, could meet Rublev in the quarterfinal but before that, the Russian would have to knock out Berrettini in the third round and De Minaur in the fourth round.

Third Quarter

The tennis world could witness a blockbuster match in this quarter if both Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic progress to the quarterfinal. But before that, the Russian would have to knock out 2025 Dubai Open champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round, while Djokovic would have to beat Lorenzo Musetti.

The other seeded players here are Jiri Lehecka, Sebastian Korda, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Alex Michelsen. Auger-Aliassime will be bidding to win his third title of the season following the Adelaide International and the Open Occitanie.

Fourth Quarter

Second seed Carlos Alcaraz will headline this quarter and could lock horns with last year’s runner-up Grigor Dimitrov in the last 16. Fifth seed Casper Ruud, on the other hand, is projected to face the Spaniard in the quarterfinals but prior to that, he could set up a fourth-round clash with Tommy Paul.

The quarter also features 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, who used his protected rankings to play in the event. If he reaches the third round, he could set up a clash with Dimitrov. The other seeded players in the draw are Alejandro Tabilo, Francisco Cerundolo, Karen Khachanov, and Brandon Nakashima.

Semifinals

Jack Draper and Carlos Alcaraz are the favorites to win the tournament. Alexander Zverev, who is still searching for his first ATP title since the 2024 Paris Masters, may have to wait for the next tournaments to take home a trophy.

Ben Shelton is expected to make a deep run once again. Between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, although both are struggling for form, the latter will be the favorite to win if they are pitted against each other.

Final

If everything happens as per the predictions here, Jack Draper could meet Carlos Alcaraz in the final. It will also be a rematch of the 2025 Indian Wells semifinal where the Brit denied the 21-year-old a chance to complete a three-peat.

Alcaraz would be expected to take revenge on his defeat to claim his second title of the season following the Rotterdam Open. If the four-time Grand Slam champion wins the tournament, it will be his second Miami Open title following his successful run in 2022.
