The main draw of the Monte Carlo Masters kickstarted on April 6 on the outdoor clay courts of the Monte Carlo Country Club in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. It’s the 56th tour-level edition of the tournament and the draw for the event was made on April 4.
Monte Carlo Masters is the third of the nine Masters 1000 tournaments of the season and the first event of the same category on clay. Rafael Nadal, the most successful player in The Principality with 11 titles, including eight consecutive ones, won’t be playing as he bade his farewell in last year’s Davis Cup.

Quarterfinal prediction: Alexander Zverev vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas
Second Quarter
Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev will headline the second quarter. The two-time Monte Carlo Masters champion will face either Alejandro Tabilo or 2014 Monte Carlo Masters champion Stan Wawrinka to kickstart his campaign.

If he faces Grigor Dimitrov in the third round and beats him, he will then meet either Alex de Minaur or Medvedev in the quarterfinals. Given that Medvedev is dealing with a slump in form, he once again could suffer an early exit.
Quarterfinal prediction: Novak Djokovic vs. Alex de Minaur
Third Quarter
Jack Draper, the 2025 Indian Wells champion, has improved his game a lot in recent times and he is projected to meet Ben Shelton in the third round. This quarter features a player who has established himself as one of the best clay-court players in recent years.

It’s Casper Ruud, the two-time French Open finalist and last year’s runner-up in Monte Carlo. Ruud could meet Frances Tiafoe in the third round and Draper in the last eight.
Quarterfinal prediction: Jack Draper vs. Casper Ruud
Fourth Quarter
Carlos Alcaraz will headline the fourth quarter. He is playing this tournament for the first time since 2022 and is projected to lock horns with Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals. Rublev had defeated Holger Rune in 2023 Monte Carlo Masters final to lift his first title.

Apart from Alcaraz and Rublev, Arthur Fils and 2019 Monte Carlo champion Fabio Fognini feature in this quarter. Monte Carlo Masters is one of the few tournaments Richard Gasquet will play on the clay swing before hanging up his racket at the French Open.
Quarterfinal prediction: Andrey Rublev vs. Carlos Alcaraz
Semifinals
Stefanos Tsitsipas is the winner of three Monte Carlo Masters titles, winning in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Given that Novak Djokovic recently played the Miami Open final, no one can write him off despite his age.

Carlos Alcaraz is the winner of several clay-court titles, including the 2024 French Open. But he has not yet lifted the trophy in Monte Carlo and skipped the tournament in 2023 and 2024 due to injuries. If he faces Casper Ruud, Alcaraz will definitely be the favorite to win.
Semifinal prediction:
- Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Novak Djokovic
- Casper Ruud vs. Carlos Alcaraz
Final
If everything happens as per the predictions, then Monte Carlo Masters will see a blockbuster final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. Alcaraz has faced the 24-time Major champion eight times, winning three of those matches.

They had last squared off against each other in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Australian Open, which Djokovic had won, and also registered his second consecutive victory over the Spaniard following the 2024 Paris Olympics final. But beating the youngster in the Monte Carlo Masters will undoubtedly be an uphill task for the 37-year-old.
Final prediction: Novak Djokovic vs. Carlos Alcaraz
Winner prediction: Carlos Alcaraz
