The third Grand Slam of the season, the Wimbledon Championships, is scheduled to start on Monday (June 30th). Barbora Krejcikova will enter the tournament as the defending champion having defeated Jasmine Paolini in the final last year.
However, at this year’s edition of Wimbledon, Krejcikova will be the seventeenth seed as she has been out for the majority of the season due to a back injury. She only returned to the tour at the Strasbourg Open, a few days before the French Open. She also won’t be the favorite, as she recently withdrew from the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne International.

First Quarter
World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka is a part of this draw and she will be bidding to win her fourth Grand Slam in her career. She has reached the final of the past three major tournaments. However, she has won just one of those three majors and has not played at Wimbledon since 2023.

She’s projected to face Madison Keys in the quarter-finals, a rematch of the 2025 Australian Open. But before that, she will face a tricky test against former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in the third round. McCartney Kessler, Elise Mertens, Elina Svitolina, Paula Badosa, Donna Vekic, and Leylah Fernandez are the other seeded players in the quarter.
Quarter-finals prediction: Aryna Sabalenka vs. Madison Keys
Second Quarter
2024 Wimbledon runners-up Jasmine Paolini will lead this quarter and she’s the fourth seed at the tournament. The Italian star is still seeking her first Grand Slam and will hope to do better than she did last year.

She has a potential clash against Qinwen Zheng in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Outside that, she was given a good draw. Other seeded players include Amanda Anisimova, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Linda Noskova, Diana Shnaider, Jelena Ostapenko, and Ashlyn Krueger.
Quarter-finals prediction: Jasmine Paolini vs. Qinwen Zheng
Third Quarter
Defending champion Barbora Krejcikova is in this quarter, but she’s not the favorite to reach the quarter-finals due to her form. Teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva and World No.3 Jessica Pegula are the leaders of the quarter and are projected to face each other in the quarter-finals.

However, the threat that Krejcikova poses can never be underestimated, as she proved so last year. She is projected to face Andreeva in the third round, which will be a difficult test for the Indian Wells champion. Magdalena Frech, Emma Navarro, Karolina Muchova, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Magda Linette are the remaining seeded players in the draw.
Quarter-finals prediction: Mirra Andreeva vs. Jessica Pegula
Fourth Quarter
Coco Gauff headlines this quarter following her resounding triumph at the French Open early this month. But, she will face a strong opposition from Iga Swiatek, who has bounced back from a slump during the clay season, and she’s currently in her first final on grass and first since June 2024.

Nonetheless, Swiatek will face former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in the fourth round. The Kazakhstan star reached the quarter-finals last season and has been consistent on the court for the past three weeks. Marta Kostyuk, Clara Tauson, Daria Kasatkina, Liudmila Samsonova, and Sofia Kenin are seeded in the quarter.
Quarter-finals prediction: Iga Swiatek vs. Coco Gauff
Semi-finals
Sabalenka will be the favorite to beat Keys, even though it will be a very tight contest, but the World No.1 has what it takes to beat the American star. Meanwhile, Paolini is the favorite to beat Zheng in their quarter-finals clash as the latter has struggled to play her best tennis on grass.

On the other side of the draw, Pegula is the favorite to beat the teenage sensation Andreeva because of her experience on the surface. The American has been a consistent player in Grand Slam events. While Gauff is expected to beat Swiatek to take the final place in the semi-finals.
Semi-final prediction:
- Aryna Sabalenka vs. Jasmine Paolini
- Jessica Pegula vs. Coco Gauff
Final
Sabalenka and Coco Gauff are projected to face each other, a rematch of the French Open final after just over a month. Gauff won their last meeting, beating the Belarusian in three sets at the Roland Garros.

Gauff leads 6-5 in the head-to-head matchups. Sabalenka has been to the final of the Australian Open and French Open this year but has failed to lift any. Meanwhile, Gauff now has two Grand Slam titles to her name but is yet to win a single match on grass this season.
