The 2025 MLB season is heading into its final stretch. After another fantastic League Championship Series, the action now shifts to the World Series. The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers will kick off the 2025 best-of-seven World Series from Friday after winning their respective pennants.

The Dodgers entered the 2025 season as the defending champions. Last year, the National League West side first took down their division rivals, the San Diego Padres, in the National League Division Series (NLDS) before beating the New York Mets 4-2 in the National League Championship Series (NLCS) to reach the Fall Classic. There, they dominated the New York Yankees and defeated them 4-1 to claim their 8th World Series title.

The Blue Jays, meanwhile, did not have the best of times in the 2024 season. The Canadian side finished bottom of the AL East standings with a negative record of 74-88, while 3 of their division rivals (the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox, and the Baltimore Orioles) reached the postseason.

This year, the Blue Jays have been the team to beat. After a slow start, they took off. A midseason slump of the Yankees saw them take over the division standings and clinch their first division title in over a decade. As they owned the tiebreaker over the Bronx Bombers, the Blue Jays finished the regular season as the No.1 seed team in the AL with a 94-68 record.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, did struggle a bit during the regular season. Following an 8-0 start to the season, the reigning champions did take a few hits in the midst of the season. However, they managed to pull themselves back and won the division title once again.

In the postseason, both teams had to navigate a difficult path to reach the World Series. The Blue Jays, who got a bye as the No.1 seed, took down the Yankees 3-1 in the ALDS before going back-and-forth in a thrilling ALCS against the Seattle Mariners. They came back from 2-0 down to knock out the Mariners in Game 7 and reach their first World Series since 1993.

The Dodgers had to make their way from the Wild Card Series as they were the No.3 seed in the National League. After sweeping the Cincinnati Reds 2-0, they eliminated the Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 in the NLDS before sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 in the NLCS to get one step closer to defending their title.
