Now that the Indian Wells is done and dusted, the tennis world will be focusing on the matches at the Hard Rock Stadium. The second leg of the Sunshine Doubles, the Miami Open, will see the top players in action from March 17.

In the California desert, World No.2 Jannik Sinner ended his title drought with a straight-set victory over Daniil Medvedev, also winning his first title in the tournament. Jakub Mensik will be entering the Miami Open as the defending champion. Last year, he defeated Novak Djokovic, who withdrew from the event this time due to his right arm injury.

First quarter

Carlos Alcaraz will headline this draw. The Spaniard, who will be chasing his third title of the season, defeated Casper Ruud in the 2022 Miami Open final.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion could meet Ruud this time in the fourth round. The second half of the quarter also has Jiri Lehecka, Jack Draper, and Taylor Fritz. But before that, Alcaraz could set up a blockbuster match against Joao Fonseca in the second round, in what would be their first official meeting.

Second quarter

The second quarter features fourth seed Lorenzo Musetti, who could set up a fourth-round meeting with Flavio Cobolli. Alexander Bublik and Alex de Minaur are projected to meet in the fourth round.

Reigning Shanghai Masters champion Valentin Vacherot is also part of this draw, and so is Arthur Fils, who recently lost the Qatar Open final to Alcaraz. De Minaur won the Rotterdam Open this year, while Musetti has lost seven finals since winning the 2022 Tennis Napoli Cup.

Third quarter

All eyes will be on Medvedev this quarter because the Russian ace, after a poor 2025 season, has finally regained his form. Medvedev and Ben Shelton could meet in the fourth round.

Other contenders for the second Masters 1000 title in this quarter are Learner Tien and Alexander Zverev. Sascha has yet to win a title since last year’s Munich Open.

Fourth quarter

Sinner will be bidding to complete the Sunshine Doubles. He could set up a quarterfinal clash with Felix Auger-Aliassime or Jakub Mensik.

Arthur Rinderknech is expected to give tough competition if he sets up clashes with other top seeds. Other seeded players in this draw are Frances Tiafoe, Andrey Rublev, Cameron Norrie, and Corentin Moutet.

Semifinals

Draper, even though he will be playing his third singles tournament since returning to the tour after his injury hiatus, has not lost his form. The player who is the heavy favorite to reach the semifinals is Alcaraz.

And in the second semifinal, Sinner and Medvedev are the favorites to make the last four. Medvedev has so far won two titles this year (in Brisbane and Dubai) and lost the Indian Wells final to Sinner.

Semifinal prediction:

Final

Sinner will be the favorite to win if he meets Medvedev in the semifinal. This event could see the clash of Alcaraz and Sinner in a final for the first time this year.

Last year, they met six times, with Sinner winning just twice. The Italian trails 6-10 in the head-to-head matchups with the World No.1.
