The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked one of most the significant moments of the sports history regarding the team owners-France family dynamic. The premier stock car racing teams found themselves in heated negotiation with NASCAR over the 2025-2031 charter deal and it resulted in two teams suing NASCAR.
23XI Racing and Front Raw Motorsports, the only team to not sign the new charter deal, sued NASCAR alleging monopoly. During one of the most recent filings regarding the legal proceeding NASCAR claimed that 23XI team is involved in manufacturing evidence against the sport and has tried to illegally persuade other teams to join their side.
In a recent fling on the Court, 23XI Racing president Steve Lauletta has responded to these allegations. He pointed out that the claims from NASCAR are completely false. The legal battle is going to drag for few more years, unless they settle it outside the court in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone in the sport.
Also in today's filing, 23XI president Steve Lauletta responded to NASCAR allegation that similar emails from drivers (content of emails is redacted) indicated a coordinated effort by 23XI to manufacture proof of potential irreparable harm. Lauletta: "This is completely false."

23XI and FRM is getting SHR involved in the injunction trial
The teams are in a situation where they had to race as open teams in the 2025 season for refusing to sign the new deal. To make sure it doesn’t happen, they filed in the injunction asking the court order NASCSAR to let them race as full-time teams. They failed the initial case and now appealed it.
The latest filing from the team has gotten Stewart Haas Racing’s Joe Custer involved. Both the teams involved in the legal saga has purchased charters from SHR and now can’t complete it because of the lawsuit and they see it as irreparable harm.
In trying to show irreparable harm, Front Row's Jerry Freeze, in new filing today, alleges that Steve Phelps told him in September the transfer of the SHR charter to FRM is approved but that NASCAR is now telling the team they must drop the lawsuit for that to happen. (1/2)

NASCAR and the teams have found themselves in a situation from which they should get out soon, before it changes the sport forever. It might do a world of good to everyone involved if NASCAR decides to settle the lawsuit with adjustments to the deal.
