Kevin Durant, at age 36, is likely on the move again. Wherever he goes, the 2-time NBA champion will join the fifth team of his illustrious career in the hopes that his next group of teammates will help him land his 3rd title, which will further cement his legacy as one of the best to ever do it.

So far, the names of five teams came up as suitors for the services of the 2-time Finals MVP. They all are negotiating with the Phoenix Suns hoping to come to a deal which will benefit all three parties involved. The Suns ofcourse want the most assets they can get their hands on.

The franchise does not have the draft picks to lean on in this supposed rebuild, nor does it have the cap space to attract quality free agents. Therefore, they will do what is best for them. However, they also know that Kevin Durant came in despite having other options to choose from.

Hence, they will likely do a favor of sorts for their most notable superstar and send him to a team of his choice. At the same time, the franchise also hopes that his next team gives them the assets they need to get out of this mess they created.

Out of the five teams, two have been crossed off. The New York Knicks are not interested in Durant, and the superstar does not want to go to the Minnesota Timberwolves. That leaves three teams where he can look to possibly win a title or two before he retires.

Kevin Durant will instantly make the Houston Rockets title-contenders

Among the three teams remaining on Kevin Durant’s list of potential destinations, the Houston Rockets sit as the most title-ready team. They have great veterans in the form of Fred VanVleet, Steven Adams and Dillon Brooks.

More importantly, they have a solid young core of Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason and Amen Thompson. There are a couple of other young prospects, but they are likely trade assets that could head to Phoenix.

They took Durant’s former team, the Golden State Warriors to 7 games before ending their season early. In that series, the young Rockets battled the veteran Warriors hard and rebounded from a 3-1 deficit. They succumbed to the veteran’s experienced game planning towards the end.

Durant can solve that problem in one go, as he has been in 4 NBA Finals and countless playoff series’ to know what works and what does not. Additionally, imagine his scoring helping the 2nd best team in the West. That is a recipe for success, and the DC native won’t have to shoulder most of the scoring burden.

Kevin Durant is the Miami Heat’s missing superstar

Kevin Durant going to the Houston Rockets and defeating the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs will set the league on fire. It will be even more interesting if he was with Jimmy Butler‘s old team, the Miami Heat, and they clash in the NBA Finals.

Ever since Butler jettisoned away from Florida, the Heat have been in the doldrums. Their game plan looked confusing and they lost 10 straight games, causing panic among their fans. They managed to steady the ship, but it was evident that something was amiss.

Without Butler’s scoring and competitive drive, the Heat looked like a shell of their former NBA Finals contending selves. They need a superstar to come in and light that spark again. Per Pat Riley, the franchise will be making some changes to their roster to become competitive again.

That suggests he will try to make it better so that someone like Durant can come in and be ready to challenge for a title. Their core of Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware and couple of others are good, but will be better with the Slim Reaper taking on the scoring lead.

Kevin Durant will make Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs title favorites

The problem with the Rockets and the Heat’s interest in the 36-year-old superstar is that, they rank below the San Antonio Spurs as preferred destinations. Kevin Durant seems to be interested in moving to Texas, where he developed into the generational prospect that he was.

The Spurs organization has done its part in building a solid team even though Gregg Popovich was recovering from a health scare. A starting lineup of Victor Wembanyama, Durant, Stefon Castle, De’Aaron Fox, and Chris Paul screams NBA championship.

Knowing how crafty the Spurs are as an organization, they could strike a deal with the Phoenix Suns without giving up any of their prime core pieces. On top of that, Durant and Wembanyama have mutual respect for each other. Their goal is to play basketball to the best of their abilities.

Throw in the fact that Durant will not pay state taxes on his income and that caveat just makes the move a lot more interesting. All of this suggests he will likely move there, but only time will say where the DC native believes is the best place for him to win title No. 3.
