On Saturday, tempers flared up at the very beginning as the USA took on their rivals Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off. This heated match between the two countries kicked off with 3 fights within the opening 9 seconds of the contest.
The USA-Canada matchup was one the fans had been looking over for a long time. This was the first competitive meeting between the two sides since the World Cup of Hockey in 2016. This led to huge anticipation among the crowd as the players skated out at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Before the fights could take place, however, the tensions were through the roof when there were audible boos for the US National Anthem. Every brawl since then was highly welcomed by the fans online.

Mere two seconds into the match, Matthew Tkachuk would drop his gloves and fight Brandon Hagel. The two would exchange some heavy punches and lose their helmets in the process. Hagel would get the better of him in this bout.

Once the fight was over, another face-off took place. One second later, Matthew Tkachuk’s brother, Brady Tkachuk got involved in a fight with Sam Bennett. In this clash, it was the younger Tkachuk who emerged as the victor.

The game would resume for a bit and the puck actually moved forward for a while. As the action reached near Canada’s goal, there was some pushing and shoving.
During this, J.T. Miller of the United States dropped the gloves against Colton Parayko of Canada. The two players threw haymakers at each other in a spirited tilt. While the two of them held their own, it appeared that Parayko got the upper hand in this bout.

All the players involved in this scrum were sent to the penalty box for their actions. The crowd on the other hand seemed to have been even more fired up after this early drama. In the end, Team USA came out as 3-1 winners and booked their place in the finals of the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Tkachuk brothers reveal having a group chat on planning to fight Team Canada players at the start of the game
After a thrilling game in which they emerged as the winners, Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and his brother Matthew Tkachuk spoke on the fight. They revealed having a group chat with J.T. Miller and planning on fighting at the start of the match.

In the press conference after the match, Matthew Tkachuk claimed that the team needed to send a “message” to their rivals.
