At WWE Bad Blood, Triple H made a historic announcement regarding Crown Jewel. The CCO revealed that both men’s and women’s world champions would square off the upcoming PLE. However, neither of the titles will be on the line. Instead, the winner will become the inaugural Crown Jewel Champion. As such, Cody Rhodes, Undisputed WWE Champion, faces Gunther, World Heavyweight Champion, for the first time ever.

Without a doubt, this could be one of the biggest WWE matches of the year. Since dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, Rhodes has defeated several top stars. But none like Gunther. The same can be said for The Ring General, who’ll face the toughest challenge of his career so far. In the few in-ring encounters that they’ve had, Rhodes has come out on top after eliminating Gunther in consecutive Royal Rumble matches.

Needless to say, Gunther will look to avenge these losses at Crown Jewel. Meanwhile, The American Nightmare has the opportunity to further solidify his status as the poster boy for WWE. With such high stakes and the championship on the line, here are three ways this bout can end:

Kevin Owens interferes and costs Cody Rhodes the match

The most likely ending to the main event could involve Kevin Owens interfering. Owens, who attacked Cody Rhodes after Bad Blood, feels betrayed by his friends. The Prizefighter is currently suspended due to his actions and has threatened to quit WWE if things aren’t resolved. On last week’s episode of SmackDown, Randy Orton demanded a match against Owens at Crown Jewel.

With that said, the bout is most likely to take place at the event. Regardless of the result, KO will look to strike back at Rhodes. And what better way to do it than to cost him a match against his Raw counterpart? Moreover, WWE would prefer not to have one of its world champions take a clean loss at the PLE.

Gunther makes Cody Rhodes pass out to sleeper hold and wins clean

Scratch that last part! Maybe giving Gunther a clean victory over Cody Rhodes is not a bad idea. After all, The American Nightmare has already established himself as the top babyface of WWE. Instead, Rhodes can be used to further elevate The Ring General into an unbeatable monster on Raw. In fact, an asserting win for Gunther helps in restoring the prestige of the World Heavyweight Championship.

Since its return, the title has felt secondary to the Undisputed WWE Championship on SmackDown. Furthermore, it didn’t help when Roman Reigns mocked the belt during the road to WrestleMania. WWE will need to show its audience why there are two equal world titles on its roster. Hence, Gunther emerging victorious by choking Rhodes out would succeed in making the title feel important.

Goldberg returns to exact revenge on Gunther

Following Triple H’s announcement at Bad Blood, Gunther came out to gloat about himself and berate Bill Goldberg. The Austrian wrestler mocked Goldberg’s wrestling skills and insulted him in front of his family. Chaos ensued as WWE teased a future match between the pair. Since then, conflicting reports have come to light about a potential bout.

WWE could have a surprise in store for its fans at the upcoming Crown Jewel PLE. Gunther doesn’t like taking a loss, which has already been established in the past few months. Therefore, Goldberg could strike where it hurts and return to help Cody Rhodes defeat The Ring General. As a result, this would also add to the anticipation of the dream match between the WCW legend and Gunther.
