3 reasons Luka Doncic, Anthony Edwards, and Stephen Curry could save Adam Silver’s NBA ratings
Adam Silver's NBA will capture the interest of fans again, especially with the playoff battles building ahead of next week.

Luka Doncic, Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards and others will help Adam Silver's NBA ratings to improve
Over the past few seasons, Adam Silver has battled declining ratings. He tried to put on a brave face, but he could not ignore the fact that other sporting leagues were trumping the NBA in terms of excitement and experience.
He tried to fix both of those problems in one go with a new All-Star format. But that ended up being an even bigger embarrassment after viewers hardly watched any basketball and instead were subjected to boring entertainment shows.
Fan interest was at an all-time low and any suggestions to improve the NBA’s ratings were met with criticisms, questions and ultimately no answers. A week prior to that, interest in the league was at its peak when Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Suddenly, the NBA trade deadline ended up becoming the most exciting timeline in any sport.
Those sequence of events transitioned into better overall play and fans were watching exciting basketball. Stephen Curry and his Golden State Warriors were streaking. Fans waited to see how LeBron James and Doncic meshed. Other teams also started to play better and now fan interest started to come back.
Then came April and fans were fixated on what was happening in the Western Conference. At one point of time, as many as nine teams were battling for playoff seedings. Now all those seedings have been confirmed. There are three ways these playoffs could end up saving Adam Silver‘s NBA.
Luka Doncic and Anthony Edwards rekindle their playoff battle
Those two names often come up whenever any conversation surrounds the next Face of the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves superstar is all of 23 years old, but his swagger and play on the court have made him a fan favorite.
Similar attributes have made the newest member of the Los Angeles Lakers a player that has global appeal. Last season, these two battled emphatically in the Western Conference Finals. That time, Luka Doncic got the better of the two and his sarcastic stare at Edwards has become a meme that fans might not forget.
Now that those battles will resume, fan interest will be at the highest point. On one hand, the presence of LeBron James will ensure fans are tuning into that playoff series. Then on top of that, these two battling against each other should be the stuff of legends.
Whoever comes out on top will own the bragging rights for one season. Going by how competitive these two are, they would love to battle to the end. The ones to gain most from those battles will be the fans as well as the league.
Stephen Curry and Warriors’ late season collapse will benefit the NBA
The Golden State Warriors were once expected to cement fourth or fifth place in the West. But three unwanted losses dragged them down the table. They are now preparing to battle the Memphis Grizzlies for the seventh spot.
If they do end up in seventh, they will face-off against the Houston Rockets. The Rockets and Warriors have gone back-and-forth all season long, with the latest being an argument between Ime Udoka and Stephen Curry. The veterans would like to get some revenge, and their playoff experience should come handy.
If they win against the Rockets and the Lakers defeat the Timberwolves, the LeBron James vs Stephen Curry rivalry will resume in the second round. Even if they end up in eighth, their battle against the league-leading Oklahoma City Thunder will also be exciting. Fans will be tuning in to watch them battle against the odds to try and reach the West finals.
Lakers and their battles against all teams will benefit Adam Silver’s NBA
The Los Angeles Lakers vs the Minnesota Timberwolves will be an exciting series. Let us say they end up advancing to the next round. There they will meet the Golden State Warriors. If they end up winning that round too, they will either face either of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets, the eighth seed or their cross-town rival Los Angeles Clippers.
Either of those battles will be electric. Media members have always touted those other teams to be superior to the Lakers. Therefore, their narratives will resort to examples of past battles. If the Los Angeles Lakers win it all and advance, those ratings and social media engagements will be at an all-time high.
Adam Silver’s NBA is not going to lose under any circumstance. The only situation that could send NBA ratings through the roof is if the Lakers reach the finals and face either the Boston Celtics, or the Cleveland Cavaliers. It can also be toppled if Stephen Curry and his Warriors reach the finals and win it all to defy all expectations.
