The women’s revolution has completely changed the landscape for all female superstars in the wrestling world. It certainly reached new heights when they did the unthinkable and main-evented WrestleMania for the first time in 2019. Since then, women’s wrestling has been on the rise in the industry.

There are a plethora of talented female superstars ready to show what they are capable of on SmackDown, Raw, and even NXT. At first, there were only three top titles for them to pursue. However, recently, the black-and-gold brand introduced a new title, the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Following in the footsteps of the former developmental show, WWE needs to implement the same on the main roster, and here are three reasons for that.

More opportunities for women to showcase their skills

On the latest episode of NXT, GM Ava Raine and Sexyy Red introduced the NXT Women’s North American title. It could give female superstars like Tatum Paxley, Fallon Henley, Sol Ruca, and many others more screen time to elevate themselves. This was certainly needed due to the departures of top stars like Tiffany Stratton and Lyra Valkyria to the main roster.

Interestingly, the same can be said about the main roster, as stars like Zelina Vega, Dakota Kai, and many others could certainly benefit from it. The mid-card title has always been known as the workhorse title, which helps superstars become main-event-caliber performers. Unfortunately, the main event scene is packed with top stars. WWE needs to bring some balance to the roster by introducing a new title.

Fans get to see more amazing matches and exciting storylines

If there was one major complaint about the women’s division in WWE, it was the lack of compelling storylines. However, over the last two years, things have drastically changed under Triple H‘s leadership. Women are getting more chances to tell a story during their matches.

Amidst the rise of the women’s division as a whole, a mid-card title will only elevate the division. New alliances can be made, and friends can turn on each other for the prestigious title. All of that will culminate in brand new matches and heated rivalries.

Irrelevancy in the women’s tag team title scene

Although the women’s roster is stacked with a lot of talent, WWE has always failed to truly establish the women’s tag team division. Unfortunately, at one point in time, there was a streak of one of the champions always getting injured. Moreover, less competition in the tag team division has made the belts irrelevant.

WWE kept creating a tag team of two stars who always performed well on an individual basis. Hence, being involved in a tag team damaged the potential of building some storylines with those superstars. However, that problem can be put to rest if WWE introduces a new mid-card title in the women’s division.
