Former Italian footballer Antonio Cassano lamented Cristiano Ronaldo in a recent interview, even going to the extent of stating that the Portuguese ‘does not know how to play football’. In an X-rated rant, Cassano also took a dig at Ronaldo’s recent 900-goal record.
Cristiano Ronaldo, most recently, became the first player to break the 900-goal record mark. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner holds countless records to his name, with both club and country. Despite his age, the 39-year-old star also topped the list for scoring the highest number of goals in 2023. Ex-Real Madrid forward Antonio Cassano, who played for the club between 2004 and 2008, however, despite the Al-Nassr star’s records, criticized him in a recent interview on the Viva El Futbol podcast.
The former Italian forward surprisingly stated that Ronaldo he does not know how to play football. Going on to make an X-rated slur, Cassano exclaimed that it did not matter to him even if the Portuguese star goes on to score 3000 goals. He controversially said that Ronaldo does not know how to link up with his teammates, and his only objective has been to score goals. He also compared Ronaldo to the likes of forwards of his era, like Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez and others.
