At 119 days, LA Knight‘s US title reign has come to an end. He’s upstaged by The Artist known as Shinsuke Nakamura. The match began with Nakamura showcasing his striking prowess on Knight. The tides turned in Champ’s favor soon. However, The Wayward Samurai kept trying to get under LA’s skin, and he eventually did. The two kept looking for that opening.
Neither man was able to break the deadlock, resulting in an even-steven contest. At one point, Shinsuke drove Knight’s frontal into the mat by virtue of an inverted superplex. By the looks of it, The Megastar landed a bit abruptly. However, he kicked out. When he picked momentum once again, the 41-year-old looked for the BFT. However, Shin wisely rolled to the junction of the two rings.
The Artist gave his opponent a taste of steel, which was the difference maker. The Kyoto-born wrestler hit the Kinshasa knee strike to a drowsy Knight, who was out cold. And just like that, Nakamura became the new United States Champion for a third time. It appeared from the get-go that Shinsuke was a man on a mission.
Having not been actively wrestling on WWE TV since April, one would imagine the ring rust must’ve gotten to him. However, as mentioned in the commentary, Shin wasn’t messing around while he was out. Instead, he kept meditating and worked on making his arsenal razor-sharp.
At Survivor Series, it was a make-or-break night for him. Had he lost again, the fans would’ve stopped caring at all about the new demonic side that he’s embraced. Nakamura returned to SmackDown a couple of weeks ago, going straight after LA Knight. In only his second match since coming back, Shin won gold.
Though shocked, WWE fans paint Shinsuke Nakamura’s win over LA Knight a deserving affair
Taming an upbeat bravado like LA Knight needed some effort. And Shinsuke Nakamura showed he still has some gas left in the tank. It was his first title win since 2021. The social media came unglued for the moment.
A number of fans believe that Shin’s push was long overdue. One even joked that it was the first instance they’d seen Triple H pull the trigger that soon. Common concerns were brought up pertaining to the magnitude of Nakamura’s win.
It sure did come out of the blue. But Nakamura has found a silver lining. It might be his last chance to silence his critics. It’d be interesting to see if Knight gets his rematch at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
