Deommodore Lenoir displayed his best Nick Sirianni impression after the San Francisco 49ers recorded a 23-19 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC wildcard round game at Lincoln Financial Field. Brock Purdy made mistakes, but he contributed enough for the Niners to knock out last year’s champions.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 20 passes from 35 attempts for 168 yards, threw one touchdown pass, and set up a rushing score for tight end Dallas Goedert. Goedert, who finished as the league’s highest-scoring tight end, caught 4 passes for 33 yards. AJ Brown had 3 for 25 and two dropped passes, while DeVonta Smith went 8 for 70 yards. Saquon Barkley had 29 touches on the ball and racked up 131 all-purpose yards.
Despite long-term injuries to Fred Warner and Nick Bosa at the heart of the 49ers base, the defense did a splendid job of holding the Eagles to under 20 points. Lenoir, Eric Kendricks, Malik Mustapha, Marques Sigle, and Garret Wallow shut out Brown, Smith, and the rest of the Eagles’ offense.
No wonder Lenoir was pumped after the win. The veteran defensive back shouted taunting words inside the stadium tunnel as he made his way to the locker room.“Bye bye!!! Beat the traffic,” Lenoir addressed the last few Eagles’ fans still in the bleachers.
“Talk out yo mouth shit like this happens.”

Lenoir made 8 total tackles and one tackle for loss. Moreover, in 17 games, he had 39 tackles, five pass deflections, four tackles for loss, and two interceptions.
On the other side of the ball, running back Christian McCaffrey capped off with 21 total touches for 100+ yards and scored two receiving touchdowns. Demarcus Robinson accumulated the most yards on the fewest touches. The veteran wideout caught six passes for 111 yards and scored one touchdown.
It felt good. We needed some guys to step up. I was one of those guys tonight. It felt great. It felt good to know that the coach has trust in me.

Demarcus Robinson saved his best game as a 49er for the most important battle of season — 6 catches for 111 yards and a TD.

Robinson’s fellow receiver, Jauan Jennings, caught just one pass for 45 yards. However, the Tennessee graduate threw a TD pass to McCaffrey on a layoff from Skyy Moore.

Deommodore Lenoir loves playing against the Eagles
The 49ers clinched a 23-19 win, securing their spot in the divisional playoff game. It was Purdy’s second victory against the Eagles since throwing four touchdowns in a 42-19 win in Week 13 of the 2023 season. Hurts is 1-3 in this fixture.

Lenoir played a minor role in that particular game, but when Kyle Shanahan needed him, the 26-year-old answered. Three minutes before the final whistle, Lenoir trucked Smith on a crossing route, which left the Eagles receiver seeing stars for a few seconds.

Fans began calling the ‘hyena’ because of his uncanny skill of sniffing out tackles at regular intervals. The nickname stuck, and frankly, it grew on him.
I gravitated toward [the nickname] … after the Philly game, when I made that big hit.
Deommodore Lenoir said in an episode of the Niners web series ‘The Build.’ (H/T: NBC Sports Bay Area)
Lenoir has made a total of 79 appearances since the Niners drafted him in the fifth round in 2021. He has racked up 326 combined tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 31 pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one sack.
