This week, the San Francisco 49ers put Kyle Juszczyk through the wringer. The team cut him in order to free up cap space which led to his friends and teammates, Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle posting stories bidding him farewell. However, the team has now brought him back on an $8 million contract keeping him a part of the team he intends to retire playing for.

Kyle Juszczyk and his wife Kristin Juszczyk have become local legends in San Francisco. The 33-year-old has found a home in the Bay and since being traded in 2017 by the Baltimore Ravens, he has stuck with the 49ers through thick and thin. When the team parted ways with him, fans began to criticize the team’s front officer for letting a loyal player such as him walk.

It is not clear if the pressure from the fanbase played a part in the team’s decision to bring Juszczyk back, but he has returned to the place where he belongs. In light of Juszczyk’s return, Claire Kittle, the wife of George Kittle posted a story celebrating him.

She had put a picture of George and Kyle. The 49ers offense is a tight-knit unit. Especially Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Kyle Juszczyk, are close and all of their wives are good friends as well.

Kyle Juszczyk took a pay cut to stay with the 49ers

The fullback has had a rough time, contract-wise recently. The 49ers have been cautious about offering him substantial money considering his age and contribution to the offense. The team asked him to take a pay cut before the 2024-25 season if he wanted to stay in the Bay.

Kyle Juszcyk is a nine-time Pro Bowler, considered to be one of the top fullbacks in league history. He had 226 yards and 3 touchdowns. In his defense, the star power that the 49ers have limited his opportunities. A laudable aspect of the halfback is that he never complains about wanting more touches. His intangibles are more valuable to the team as he is a respected veteran in the locker room.

The San Francisco 49ers have been active in free agency. The team has made more cuts than signings and the duo of Kyle Shanahan-John Lynch are determined to improve by leaps and bounds next season. Additionally, they have begun to preserve cap space to accommodate a sizeable deal to quarterback Brock Purdy.

The team had one of the worst Super Bowl hangovers in recent history as they fell apart last season and failed to make the playoffs. Injuries plagued them and the team was without work horse Christian McCaffrey for most of the season which further impacted the offense.
