This offseason, one of the biggest question marks has been upon the future of Brandon Aiyuk with the San Francisco 49ers. Since the Super Bowl, there have been a lot of different versions of the story but the franchise has stuck by one– they do not plan to release Aiyuk anytime soon.

At the recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, 49ers General Manager John Lynch made sure to give everyone some clarity amidst the whole saga of the 49ers interested in trade offers for either of their star wide receivers. First, he clarified that the franchise did not entertain any such offer on Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. And secondly, he asserted that the Niners are unwilling to trade either of the wideouts.

During the course of drafts and offseasons, do conversations happen? Absolutely they do. We’re past that now. We’re thrilled to add to that group of Jauan Jennings, Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel, Chris Conley, Ronnie Bell, Danny Gray, and now you add Ricky Pearsall, Jake Cowing. We made an already strong group even stronger.

Lynch further expressed his confidence in keeping both Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel as they are the ones the franchise drafted and have belief in.

Brandon Aiyuk’s contract talks reach a critical juncture

The 49ers GM also talked about receiver Aiyuk’s situation with the team, at the annual pre-draft news conference. He asserted that the 49ers hope to keep him for the rest of his NFL career.

I can say we're having good talks, and I'm just going to leave it at that.

Throughout the offseason, even when the star wide receiver himself expressed his displeasure with the team, Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have stated that the 49ers have no intention of trading Aiyuk, in the foreseeable future.

Regardless, the speculations surrounding Aiyuk’s future continue to grow in numbers. And it appears, that until the receiver actually signs a paper, offering a satisfactory deal to him as he ought, the rumors wouldn’t rest in peace.
